As expected, great location and exactly what we wanted. Modest fittings but we weren't home much anyway!
Not much to say really- Hugo's description is very accurate- a perfectly positioned apartment. On a quiet street, but within walking distance to most places, and it's surrounded by great places to eat.
I'd stay here again next time I'm in Barcelona.
We were a travelling party of 4 people from Denmark (one couple, two singles), who spent 7 awesome days and nights in Barcelona with this great apartment as our base of operations. We couldnt have asked for at better flat. It was mid-june, it was hot every single day, but with two very effective airconditioning units that only had to be switched on once in a while, it was very comfortable inside at all times. The apartment is nice, clean and chic, with good sleeping quarters and a livingroom with plenty of space as well as seating. We spent most of our time in the very social kitchen, since we were always coming to, or leaving the premises. No time to lounge around, when the city has so much to offer! But if you want to relax in front of the TV, its a 44" screen with an USB access through the connected cable box, so you can bring your own movies if necessary. The bathroom is spacious, easy to clean after you and pleasant. The neighbourhood surrounding the flat was nice and quiet at night, especially when you've come straight from Las Ramblas or Placa De Catalunya, where its always packed with people. We spent a lot of time in El Born, Barrio Gotico and El Raval, and everything was in walking distance from the apartment. Make shure to ask Hugo or Agnes about the whereabouts of the local supermarkets, we found a small one close by pretty easy by ourselves, but we found a much bigger one, as well as a local marketplace, only a few days before we left. We know better now, for next time! If you need to use the Metro, the "Jaume 1" station is just three minutes away on foot, also very convenient, when you need to go to Barceloneta (beach), Sagrada Familia or other places that have a bit of travelling distance. That is also the easiest place to hail a cab. I booked the apartment 3 months before we had to go to BCN, and during that time i had very pleasent email exchanges with our contact Hugo, who answered every question i had within 24hrs. So when we finally arrived, it was all easy peasy from there on. If youre the outgoing type, and i can recommend the Bootleg Cafe and Jetlag bars, which are very close to the apartment, with really great service. And if i have to single out a restaurant, you just HAVE to go to Salamanca, which is a seafood place in Barceloneta. Best. Seafood. Ever. Our stay in Barcelona was very pleasant, and a lot of that had to do with where we were
situated in the city and our comfortable quarters. We'll definitely be coming back next year.
My stay in this very central located and airy apartment has been comfortable and enjoyable. The owner himself has been pleasant and interesting conversational partner. I can recommend this apartment and am likely to return next year for Sonar again.
Hugo's apartment is perfectly located - a quiet residential area literally minutes from the Cathedral and Ramblas. Lots of nice squares to eat and drink, I felt instantly at home in my 3 day stay.
The apartment is very clean and comfortable - ideal for resting after a busy day of sightseeing (or in our case, sleeping/recovering after a night of partying at the Sonar festival!).
I'd definitely stay here again if I visited Barcelona.
Great apartment! we stayed four adults for four days at this magnificent apartment. The apartment is new modern and very comfortable. It is situated in the Gotic section which we belive is the best place in Barcelona. Really enjoyed it. The only point people should be aware is that it is on the fourth floor.
hugo - you're a great host! very uncomplicated, friendly and helpful. We definitely will get in touch for our next Barcelona-trip!
the room kitchen, bathroom ...everything was good! especially the big terrace - just a dream! room is close to the place catalunya (5min walking distance) but not noisy.
The apartment was in a great location close to all the action and several metro stops. We were able to get around very easily. The beds were comfortable and there was fast wifi. Things to keep in mind for this apartment (and almost any in the Gothic area):
-- It is very very loud at night. This really only affected the large bedroom that is at the front of the house and with ear plugs it was tolerable
-- The bathroom is small and uncomfortable, although it works.
-- The living room isn't comfortable for more than 2-3 people to lounge in.
-- There is no elevator and the stairs are very narrow. The apt is on the first floor, so there aren't many stairs to climb, but it was tiring with luggage and a stroller.
We were looking for a reasonably priced apt primarily for sleeping at night, and this did the trick perfectly. In Barcelona, there is so much to do that one shouldn't be spending a lot of time in the apt!
Hugo was great. He met us on time and let us check in a bit early so that we wouldn't have to lug our bags. He showed us where to find some great sites and made sure we had everything we needed, including a crib. I would consider renting from him again.
Hugo was a perfect host! Prompt w/ communication, professional, and super helpful w/ pointing out local eateries & points of interest. The apartment was amazing as well; centrally located, super spacious, clean, and with a priceless view of the Cathedral. I highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a wonderful experience in the city of Barcelona!
ein sehr ruhiger und zuverlässiger Gast - gern immer wieder gesehen
Hello, i'm Ricardo and was 8 days in Barcelona in Hugo's house. It was a very nice experience. Hugo it's a great person, very instructed, and will help you with everything that you will need. The house has a great panorâmic view to Sagrada Familia, and the location couldn´t be better. Because you are more or less in the middle of the city and quickly reach anywere in Barcelona. The house it's very comfortale, with very natural light, kitchen and room very sociable, and Hugo its a great cook. The best way to know the city, in my opinion, is renting a bike, special if you stay in hugo's house. Enjoy your stady and have fun!! Thank you hugo, a big hug and hope to visit you again !
Me and my girlfriend had a very nice stay at Hugo's place. The apartment is very clean, the neighbourhood is excellent, everything intersting is at travelling distance, the area is not too touristic (luckily), but has a very nice fresh meat, fruits and fish market (just locals, excellent spot to catch your breakfast bocadillos!!). Hugo is a kind guy who helps you out when you need tips and his house-mate Donny is very friendly too (though you won't catch him easily, as he's working as a chef at night). Ah yeah, you already figured it: Sagrada Familia is reallllly nextdoor : )
