From Amsterdam, love to travel, working as a barber in my shop, Barber Amsterdam.
The apartment is incredible. its very comfortable. the pictures look great but in real life the place is overwhelming! Petra has a great computer so you dont have to bring your own laptops. There is also a great stereo system you can hook your ipod up to. The projector is great for watching movies on, me and my friends brought a playstation with us and played that through the projector. The bed is very comfortable, and the blow up bed is great because you can just plug it up and it inflates itself! The apartment is located on a really nice looking street. the scenery on the walks to the centre is great. its about a 10 minute bike ride to the centre. The neighbours are very friendly and helpful.
overall, the apartment is very comfortable, warm and feels like home. Petra is a great host. I would love to stay hear again!
Petra was a great host and her apartment was wonderful! She left us a sweet note and a few maps of the town which were very helpful. She also has wifi and a computer which was really nice, since most hotels charge for that. Her cat Nina was absolutely precious and was a great addition to our vacation! I highly recommend staying in this apartment but there are some things to take note of.
-The stairs are very steep and windy, but I believe this is common anywhere you stay in Amsterdam.
-The house got kind of cold since it was winter, but we moved our air mattress into the living room where she has a great heater and we were fine.
-The apartment is not located in the absolute center of town, but rather a 20 min or so tram ride to leidsplein/ rembrantplein/ the touristy areas. This is fine if you just want to go to Amsterdam to see the sites during the day and are a family or something, but my college friends and I wanted to go out late and had to take cab rides (tram only goes 6am to midnight). Something to be aware of if you're there to party downtown at night.
Those are a few things to take note of. Otherwise our stay was great and we didn't have any problems. Thanks for a great stay, Petra!!
Great spot in a cool neighborhood. Cutest kitty to make you feel at home. Thanks
AMENDMENT TO OUR REVIEW
we understand from Petra she is not responsible for preparing the apartment prior to our arrival and we accept this. She also informs us that the upstairs neighbor has moved away and so her showering should not be an issue anymore. This should make the experience more pleasant for future guests!
Despite Petra allowing us to stay in her home, we must admit we were disappointed in the apartment...
- The bed linen was dirty so we had to go and buy our own sheet
- The apartment in general was not clean, and the toilet and bathroom in particular were unhygienic ... even toilet paper was not supplied, so again we had to go and buy our own...
- It was not clear in the advertisement that the arrangement with the neighbor upstairs includes her and her guests having free access to the apartment at anytime to use the shower and the toilet...
- Despite the apartment being advertised as being able to accommodate four people, there is only one bed. The extra bed supplied was an inflatable mattress as used at the beach or gym... but with no means of inflating it...
Otherwise the apartment would have been nice because it is in a good location.
Indeed, we loved the cat, Nina!
Petra is a great host. She welcomed us warmly and encouraged us to feel at home in her lovely apartment. On top of Petra being an excellent host, she has the best cat in the world, Nina, who kept us company during our stay. We would stay if we could and will be recommending Petra as a host to our friends.
Stayed in the appartement for 2 nights.
Very nice and stylish rooms. It's like your own house but not like a 5-star hotel.
One bed room for a couple and two sepperate couches in the living room.
It's located directly beside the tram station so you can easily travel to center.
all in all a nice place for a vacation in Amsterdam for young people.
+ really nice host
