Art Deco Retro is a 2 bedroom ground floor flat with funky retro furniture in an art deco block of 4. The flat has its own entrance and a large shared backyard with plenty of great places to hang out. Use the BBQ, sit in the shade of a gum tree. Hang out with the friendly panther-like cats, if you choose. If you are lucky you might come in contact with the friendly and quirky neighbours and have a quick chat. They are great for local advice on cool places to eat!
The flat has a large main bedroom with a queen bed and a large balcony with front garden views, under a huge frangipani tree. The second bedroom is a nursery and has a cot as well as a portacot (stored under the cot). This is a family and queer friendly environment. There is also a blow up mattress for guests.
Situated in Marrickville Art Deco Retro (ADR) is close to amenities and shops. Local supermarkets are literally around the corner. ADR is close to the train station and local buses - it's only 10-15 minutes to the city and just a few minutes to the hustle of Newtown. It's right near the hub, but far enough away to be whisper quiet! Its close to the airport as well.
Downtown Marrickville has become one funky place in the last couple of years with great cafes, wine bars, pubs and even a jazz club. Feel like German? The German Club in Tempe is within easy walking distance - try their authentic German food and beer! Want food? - there is Thai, Vietnamese, Greek, Indian, Nepalese, Portuguese - to name a few - within easy walking distance. The Henson Hotel has such amazing food that I nearly died and went to heaven the first time I ate there!
Need a morning coffee? There is a multitude of wonderful cafes, Greek, Italian, fusion, again, around the corner!
For families there is a plenty of great things to do - the Hensen Hotel is very very family friendly with a great space for kids to play and hang out. There are plenty of parks - Steel Park in particular is incredible - surrounded by the natural beauty of the Cooks River parkland - there is plenty for kids to do - waterplay, great playground, flying fox, ovals, even a cafe just across the river with amazing chocolates and pastries!
For those of us that are a little more queer, Newtown is a stones throw, with gay friendly bars and gay venue. A short train trip sees you in Erskineville where the famous Imperial Hotel is located. Just a bit longer on the train and a short walk from Museum train station sees you on Oxford St - gay mecca.
