La Signora Carla is a woman from Milan who has lived in Rome for many years. The Briciola apartment is accurately described, and she herself is both personable and helpful with any questions. She has maps and info for guests, and the apartment has abundant hot water and a small kitchen. As it is a low apartment, there is not a lot of external light, but plenty of artificial light.
The location is great if you like to walk, or wish to explore Trastevere. Many cafes, restaurants, even a laundry within a few steps. We learned how to get to other parts of Rome via tram and bus - no metro stop nearby.
The apartment used to be an office - so it might benefit from a few more hooks and shelves especially in the shower. Most nights the neighborhood is silent, but one night - Saturday - a group of young people brought out a speaker and blasted hip hop until after midnight - one heard every note.
Apart from that, our experience with la Briciola was positive and enjoyable. One more good thing: As we were heading to the train station, no bus came and our time was running short. By Plaza Sonnino there are always taxis - this saved us from missing our train.
Carla was wonderful and the place was perfect. Close enough to all the main attractions but also nestled amongst some wonderful, good-value restaurants. Carla was very helpful and had great recommendations. Would stay again.
Carla was very welcoming and helpful during our visit to Rome. The neighborhood is incredible and the apartment is pretty cool. The apartment is on the ground level and tucked in between tall buildings on either side, so you do not get much natural light inside the apartment. The photo on the listing was taken with the large front doors open which you wouldn't do while staying there. The apartment was also very musty, especially the bed up in the loft. It is an old building so I guess this can be expected, but all of our clothes smelled musty by the time we left. The bathroom is great and the kitchen, while dark, provides space for preparing simple meals. Overall, if you are just looking for a place to store your stuff and sleep while exploring Rome, this apartment is great.
Carla was very nice and easy going, she took time to explain us how to explore Rome, the most important and interesting sites to visit; she recommended us some restaurants in Trastevere (we went to "Le Mani in Pasta", just around the corner, and we loved it. 100% recommended). Her loft is beautiful and huge and the decoration is fantastic; you will feel transported in time. It was comfortable for us. Trastevere is a very interesting neighborhood to explore, full of bars and restaurant and night life, very safe to walk until late night. It was an awesome experience. Thank you Carla for your kindness! We will be back!
Carla was simply AMAZING! she personally received us and not only showed us the house but she also took the time to give us some pretty handy recommendations about restaurants, must sees, bars and she helped us booking a driver for the airport on our way back.
We traveled throughout Europe for 18 days and this was HANDS DOWN the most beautiful loft we stayed in. The description is accurate and the neighborhood is unbeatable.
We had a great experience in the loft! It was beautiful- decorated really great with everything you need. Alessandra was so helpful and gracious to provide us with recommendations! We would definitely stay here again! Also loved the neighborhood.
The neighborhood was wonderful and very central to all the amazing things we wanted to see in Rome. So much good food really close to the flat, but be sure to make reservations for dinner because some places get packed with people right at opening. Alessandra, Carla's daughter was very helpful in showing us where all the sights were and she provided us with a very detailed map. We enjoyed our time there :)
My mum and I stayed at Carla's apartment. Carla was away on holiday during our visit, so our point of contact was her daughter, who was incredibly helpful and friendly (even recommended and booked a fantastic hairdressing appointment for me!). I would definitely recommend staying here- very clean, spacious and decorated with beautiful furniture and home wares. The only small thing was that I would have liked more light in the apartment but that was a very minor issue. The apartment was in a fantastic location, close to the river and close to many good quality, affordable restaurants and bars.
LOVED IT! My daughter and I felt very welcomed by Carla's daughter Alessandra, who met us at the apartment. They accommodated our early arrival by storing our luggage and then letting us in after the cleaners had left. Alessandra also took the time to show us great restaurants that were near by on the map. The neighborhood is amazing and felt very safe. Carla's communication was very fast and I always felt she was available to address our needs. I recommend this apartment whole heartedly and Carla as wonderful host.
We stayed at Carla's loft in Rome for 6 nights during a heatwave in Rome and we couldn't have been more happy with our choice. Apartment was clean, always cool and great to come back to after a long day. It's also in a really cool neighborhood. It was my first time using Airbnb and Carla made sure it was a good experience
