Just like the name says, the location of the apartment is great. Marais is very nice, you have a lot of shops, restaurants and bars around, metro station not that far either. Apartment gets easily warm.
The apartment itself is not that great. Not that it is small, but non of it's windows are facing the streets, it's located inside of the building. That makes it kinda dark cause you have to put curtains (unless you want to see your naked neighbor, like I did). Kitchen is well equipped (lots of ingredients to cook, if you gonna cook, we didn't). Bedroom has a bed basically on the floor, but it's ok to sleep. The ceiling in the toilet was a complete mess, Benjamin apologized for it, but it really looked terrible.
You do have a TV, but the signal is poor, with very few french programs; for example, we couldn't watch the football game Spain- France which was on national tv. The radio works fine!
And the host, I can't really say he was helpful. Giving us a key is what he is supposed to do, and payed to do. When we arrived, we waited 30min outside for him, there was no toilet paper or soap in the apartment (when I texted him that, he replayed 2 hrs after that he can bring it tomorrow - I needed to pee sooner that that; but luckily, the market is so close (one of the pros of the place) so we bought it), one day before check out I've texted him like we agreed, with our plan for the next day, I sent him a same text again cause he didn't reply, and he answered me the next day saying he can come around 12:30 (and our lunch was booked for 12:30 and he was informed about that). He showed NO flexibility at all, like he was doing us a favor; if you ask me, host need to adjust to guests, not the other way around. It is not nice when you have a plane to catch and you are not sure if the host was in the apartment, if he left you the deposit money, cause he didn't inform us on anything. You want that stuff to go smooth and stressless.
And the cleaning, I did clean the apartment with stuff I had in the apartment, but I would prefer some professional cleaning as well, with all due respect for other guests.
Overall would be - you are paying for the location, and location is great. We basically just slept in the apartment so it served us well.

Location is great: safe and close to Republic Station, with many metro lines so you'll reduce the number of changes when leaving/going "home". We didn't use the kitchen, TV, radio or laundry.
We only used the wi-fi, the toilet and the bed and they were ok as long as you don't mind buying your own toilet paper and sleeping on a very low futon/bed on the floor. I don't and would definately stay there again!
You must know there isn't a doorman there (and in most apartments in Paris). My luggage was lost by the airline company and was delivered the following day. Luckly we had a friend who was in a proper hotel so I asked to be delivered there, otherwise I would have to stay in the apartment waiting the whole day or return all the way to the airport.
The apartment is located very successfully. Walk to Louvre of 20 minutes. It is better to walk to absorb in itself beauty of the central streets. There are big supermarkets, it is a lot of cafe and restaurants.
The flat is clean, well furnished, and in a perfect location for feeling temporarily Parisian. The host was very friendly, ultimately trustworthy, and considerate, if not always communicative. Checking out there was an issue which required us to leave the key without meeting the host again in person, which felt stressful at the time but ended fine. We had a lovely first visit to Paris and first Airbnb rental.
My husband and I stayed in Benjamin's apartment for a week in June. We really enjoyed our stay in the apartment. The apartment was clean and the perfect size for 2 people. The kitchen was well-equipped with dishes, utensils, fridge, microwave, and two burners. The bed was a futon on the floor which we found quite comfortable. The bathroom had a shower. There was plenty of hot water. There was also a laundry machine. There was a tv with a few channels and Wifi (at times the Wifi connection didn't work).
We really liked the area around the apartment. Lots of great shops, cafes, restaurants. The apartment is close to Rue de Bretagne where there is a grocery store, butcher, cheese store, bakeries, cafes, and a small market. There are a few metro stations close by and you can walk to Notre Dame in about 20-25 minutes. The area felt very safe during the day and evening. We would definitely stay in the Marais again.
If you are looking for a safe, clean apartment with all the basic amenities, we recommend Benjamin's apartment.
Benjamin was spot on time for our arrival and departure, and is a very helpful and nice fellow. The neighborhood is excellent - it feels vibrant while also feeling safe. Lots of good restaurants and walking distance to sites and shopping. The unit was big enough for two for our 8 nights. It's very handy to have a kitchen to cook breakfast and the occasion dinner. Nice people in the building and on the block.
