From east coast US, I've lived in Alaska 30 years.
I like theater and music.
My life is very full-- I like to give guests as much privacy as is possible in a small house, and at the same time, I am happy to provide local info and recommendations.

It is a great place, secluded in the forest, no neighbors nearby. It's either a big cabin or a small house, a few miles outside of Homer. So quiet at night, much better than a hotel.
Kate was welcoming and helpful with info about the area. I really enjoyed staying there.
The Bed in the Bog was a very quiet remote type of home and yet not far from the main highway. We did not meet our host in person due to her need to care for her mother but spoke to her on the phone and she gave us all the help we needed. The bedroom and bathroom were very comfortable but the living area/kitchen were a bit out of date. The art work and pottery decorations were delightful. Only adverse issue would be the sulphur odor to the water which cannot be changed, of course. We enjoyed the privacy but wish we could have met Kate.
We had a very welcoming feeling when we got to Kates lovely house placed among the trees in a quiet and nice area just 20 minutes outside Homer. We really enjoyed the time we spent there and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone, who enjoys being away from the busy city life. Unfortunately we just got to meet Kate very shortly but she and her family were very friendly.
Kate's house is in the woods surrounded by trees. A very spacious house with all the amenities. Homer is just 15 min drive. Kate was very helpful and friendly. I and my wife enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back to Kate's place.
Kate made sure that I found her house right away even if it was out in the sticks (not too much). A beautiful location, a perfect little house, a warm and welcoming host, everything so clean that I felt guilty about my own place at home (that is in urgent need of some vacuuming). It was exactly the place I was looking for, a quite place in the forest, without being too far away from civilization. Homer is just some 15 miles down the road, perfect for dinner and everything else. I highly recommend that place to everyone. Thanks Kate
Peace, solitude, and a comfortable bed stand out in our minds when we think about our stay at the Bed in the Bog. The location served us well as we wanted to explore the western side of the Kenai Peninsula. Kate's communications were prompt and friendly. We would love to return to the Bed in the Bog on our next vacation.
We did not meet Kate but she emailed us directions and once we arrived we spoke on the phone. We were able to contact Kate at any time during our stay if there were any questions or problems. Kate's home was cosy and very comfortable in a very private and peaceful setting. We would definitely recommend this listing.
What an idyllic place to stay! Beautiful location, quiet, "away from it all", private, and very comfortable. Everything was very clean, and I was able to use the kitchen anytime. Kate and her son were extremely nice and welcoming. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Kate has a lovely home and was super welcoming and cool.. Thanks!
Kate’s room and bath are large and well furnished. She turned over her house to us and we enjoyed the comfortable accommodations and the views of the surrounding environment. We wish we had scheduled a longer stay so we could have spent more time exploring the area around her house. We would enthusiastically recommend Kate’s accommodations to those looking for a quiet, out-of-the-way place with a real outback Alaskan environment. Enjoyed our stay!
Kate and her family were ideal guests in our home -- very polite, communicative, and considerate of our rules at all times. We'd recommend them, without hesitation, to any Airbnb host.
Great guest! Come again!
