Absolutely perfect. This spacious, bright apartment is in a super cool part of town with galleries, restaurants and cafes all within a stone's throw. The apartment itself is modern, clean, and cozy. I stayed here for a month, and it felt like the sweetest artists' escape!! Eric was attentive, and caring, but never invasive.
My partner and I rented this unit for the month of January. Being already familiar with the neighborhood, we looked forward to being above Spinster Sisters restaurant, even if that added another layer to the ambient sounds (freeway nearby). Communication with host was timely and courteous prior to our stay and the key was left for us in the mailbox as the host manages the property remotely.
First impressions of the place were mixed and we did offer fair feedback to the host several days after moving in to which he did not reply. The photos do make it shine more than it actually does. The double (not queen) bed was comfortable and the towels high-quality. Furniture was very basic but it served our needs. To have a serviceable kitchen we needed to borrow items, like small plates, butter knives and a toaster. While the kitchen does physically look like the photo posted on airbnb, in person it could use some sprucing up as could the rest of the place. In summary, location was good, parking was convenient, and the apartment interior worked for us, but cried out for some TLC as well.
Denise, curious that you fail to mention some changes we made to the apartment - new curtains for example - within a couple days of your arrival. We always are looking for reasonable feedback, and respond where we believe it is appropriate.
This is my go to location whenever I need a temporary home in Santa Rosa! Great air B&B rental. Thanks!!
Another great stay! Eric was an excellent host of an apartment with charm and utility. Would definitely stay here again!
This place was great! My husband and I went to Santa Rosa for a low-cost getaway and this was perfect. It's a cute little apartment right above the Spinster Sisters restaurant. The place was super clean, comfy, and convenient. Easy walking distance to downtown Santa Rosa (including Russian River Brewery).
Eric was very quick to respond and always friendly and helpful. He sent me all the details I needed well in advance of the trip and really thought of everything. The apartment is wonderfully vintage, with original woodwork, tile, etc. Very comfortable, exactly as described. The location is excellent--easy to get to from the freeway, above Eric's wonderful restaurant (I highly recommend their breakfasts!), parking is easy, and downtown is just a few blocks away. Wi-fi is super important to me so I was happy to have a great signal and no problem logging on.
The apartment has wonderful charm. Working with Eric was so easy. He is a great communicator, responsive and clear. It doesn't hurt that the restaurant downstairs has outstanding food. Thank you for a lovely stay!
My host was out of town, but that was fine. We communicated well by text and email.
The apartment was pretty much as advertised - I was in Apt 2 which does face the garden. Is large with a bedroom, bath, walk-in closet, living room and kitchen. The pantry was stocked with condiments/oil etc which was great. Is a really interesting building with no squre corners! I am going to guess is from 1920 or so and minimally updated-- which I loved. Wifi excellent. Really comfortable bed, bedding and plush towels (thank you). Bring a robe. Is a fun and funky spot in SofA district of Santa Rosa. Was lucky to be there for the Winterblast festival/parade (open studios-LOTS of them!). Spinster Sisters below is excellent.
I really like writing good reviews of our AirBnB hosts because it means we enjoyed a typical ‘unhotel’ experience, but in this case I find it difficult to be complimentary. In all fairness though, I will describe the good with the bad. Eric was for the most part communicative and left the key for us in the mailbox where he said he would. In the 16 days we stayed there we never did meet him personally. Not our typical AirBnB experience until now.
The apartment itself is spacious enough and pretty much well represented by the photos although clean isn’t the first word that I would use to describe the condition we found it in. The bed and linens were comfy and there was plenty of light from the windows. It’s well located in a self described arts district, although there were some questionable people hanging around the streets some nights and we were warned by friends that live in the area that we should be careful. The kitchen window, which is easily accessible from the stairs, couldn’t be locked and I had to prop a wooden spoon in it so that it couldn’t be opened from outside. We never left anything of value in the room.
The ‘equipped kitchen’ was very basic and didn’t even have a toaster or microwave. When I brought this to Eric’s attention, he responded that he would have a toaster and blender delivered before we left and that was the last we heard from him. No big deal, bread is fattening anyway.
What I had real problems with, was the noise. I know that Eric can’t control the ambient noise but I find it curious that there is little mention of the two lane offramp from the 101 that lies within throwing distance from the bedroom window. That wouldn’t be too bad in itself but to add to that constant traffic noise, the aircon units of the restaurant below (excellent food by the way) were churning away just outside the bedroom and kitchen windows night and day. There’s more, the kitchen range air extractors start up at about 5:30-6:00 am and vibrate the floor of the apartment until about 11:00 or 12:00 at night, depending on the day.
If all you need is a place to sleep and you don't mind noise, then this is fine, however my recommendation is to stay in one of the other apartments or better yet in a real AirBnB where the host cares a little more about their lodgings and their guest's comfort.
Eric was helpful and answered all of our questions quickly. The apartment is close to downtown and the arts district. I took a lovely walk along the river way and really enjoyed the area. We had breakfast at Spinster Sisters and Parkside Cafe and both were great. The apartment is very spacious with loads of outlets for all your electrical items and plenty of natural light. It was nice having two fans!
