We had an awesome time at the Rainbow Shack. Ziggy and Kiko are awesome hosts. They gave us great tips on places to visit at the Big Island. We definitely recommend to stay here when visiting the Big Island. We will be sure to stay here whenever we come back to visit.
It was a great experience staying at the Rainbow Shack, a most unique place in the jungle created by the incredibly hospitable Ziggy and Kiko. We thoroughly enjoyed falling asleep under the stars and waking to the rising sun. Ziggy and Kiko were very easygoing and shared with us their local knowledge. When we return to the Big Island, we will definitely go back.
Interesting place to stay. Truly in the jungle. We enjoyed every second of it. Fantastic hosts in a beautiful spot! Bed was quite comfortable.
For a sweet and safe jungle experience I recommend you go to Ziggy and Kiko. We loved the Rainbow Shack, we found everything we needed and even more. They had thought of many details and were also very helpful to make our stay just perfect. They had some great advice for outings in the area. Make sure your car is sturdy enough for a bumpy road. We will come back!
We are a couple who was looking for something completely different out of hotels, some contact with the real nature of the island. Choosing Ziggy and Kiko's place was the perfect thing to do. It was an amazing experience. You not only can feel a very cosy and clean place, but you can also feel the nature alive surrounding it. They both made us feel very comfortable, they suggested us a lot of good places to visit around the island and in fact we did it and we are very happy about it. We definitely want to come back and stay at the jungle with Ziggy and Kiko.
Soggy and Kiko are a lovely couple. I feel like a old friend I haven't met for a long time. Kiko move here from Seattle. Before that, she was from Tokyo when she was a child. I lived in Tokyo more than twenty years, so I feel we share the common language.
The house was built by them. It is very small but has a lot of character. It is situated far away in the tropical jungle. It took me a whole hour to find the place. The gate has no sign, so please see the direction before you go. I didn't. So I had to ask around to find the place.
If you are looking for a comfortable place to stay, this is not the place. A hotel in Pahoa is a better fit. You you are looking for an adventure, wanting to experience the excitement of this beautiful island. You should definitely come.
I will take my daughter to stay here this summer. She will love the place for sure.
Ziggy and Kiko were great hosts, super warm and welcoming, and genuinely interested in sharing travel tips with you! The jungle shack was really cool, we woke up feeling like we were in the treetops surrounded by birdsong. The area also has a lot to offer, from thermal pools on the coast to awesome tide pools and the cute town of Pahoa. I would definitely stay there again, and for longer!
Kiko is so great! She is so hospitable and was very welcoming to us. The room was clean and as described. We would definitely recommend her and this lodging opportunity! Would LOVE to stay here again! Thank you Kiko!
Our one-night with Kiko was very pleasant. She offered us her bikes, so we were able to get a view of the beaches and even swim!
The location is very convenient.
Bright, beautiful, and airy place, continently located within walking distance to the light rail that takes you straight into DT. Friendly host, and sweet natured dog, made this stay extremely enjoyable :) Thanks Kiko, and enjoy your adventures!
Kiko and her boyfriend were nice and good guests. We would recommend
Kiko was an excellent guest. I was gone a lot, so they pretty much had the place to themselves.
