Hey, I’m Barbara (Bo)!
A perfect weekend for me might include gourmet dining (minus the spicy stuff), hiking in a National Park such as Yellowstone, Glacier, Acadia, Saguaro or Arches, exploring city architecture on a walking tour, listening to 60s/70s folk rock, jazz, classical music, seeing a Broadway show, exploring nature in any habitat, night sky watching while enjoying a Peach Margarita, or perhaps sipping a rare Tequila.
My travel list is filled with places I want to visit--the Galapagos Islands, Costa Rica, Italy, Victoria British Columbia Canada, Scotland, Ireland, England, New Zealand and Sydney Australia. I'd also love to visit Hawaii and Alaska, the only US states I have not yet toured.
I am an avid reader - literary fiction, poetry, non-fiction. And I am always ready to play a challenging game of Scrabble. I also love to visit museums, especially art museums, and explore Botanical Gardens and Historical/Cultural sites.
I like simple spaces, small efficient places. Not into huge crowds, big parties, or lots of noise. I love all types of travel -- train, car, boat, cruise ship, plane, 'though my favorite is car travel--I get to go where I want to go, when I want to go, and I'm in control.
I'm married, have three adult children, and a baby granddaughter. I'm a professional photographer (photograph for airbnb) and specialize in botanical macro-photography, architecture and travel. My art has been influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright, Aldo Leopold (a Wisconsin native considered to be one of the first environmentalists) and the Arts and Crafts Movement.
I am an artist, a writer, and I create handcrafted books. I am also the creator of the Desert Wisdom Cards, a set of cards used in meditation and as journal prompts.
I have a deep love for all things in the US Southwest.
I am a life-long learner, always open to new ideas. I love to get to know people, but prefer to do so in small groups. I also like to have some down time to recharge after a full day of activity. I am happiest when I have time each day to journal, photograph, sketch, or participate in other creative pursuits.
My life motto is, "To look is to learn, if you listen carefully." ~ Per Arnold
