Great hosts, great location, great room! So glad they opened their home to us :)
My 11-year-old son and I very much enjoyed our time with Gary, Janice, and their two dogs. Gary and Janice were gracious, hospitable, friendly, thoughtful, accomodating hosts, even in the midst of being in an anxious time with the wildfire just having started and needing to prepare for and make a decision about evacuating. (Their home was in a voluntary evacuation zone.)
We would have liked to have stayed longer, but after the first night, both they and us determined that it would be best to leave (they to Gary's sister's house and us to the Canon City/Pueblo area for our next scheduled activity). We hope and pray that the wild fire will be contained shortly and that this house and others in the area will remain safe.
We would happily return to this house, hosts, and the beautiful Colorado Springs area again. The accomodations met my expectations. It was a comfortable and peaceful place complete with entertainment options (e.g. Wii, board games). A scenic view was just up the street (literally). It is an interesting house being built right beside, if not even into, a rock formation like those found in the Garden of the Gods.
Very nice accomadations. Would recommend to anyone and will stay again if need to.
Gary and his family were very accommodating and flexible in meeting any of my needs. They were able to give me inside info, draw me maps, and provide suggestions of things to do while I was in Colorado Springs. They even invited me to join them for dinner which was by far the best meal I've had in a while. I have absolutely no complaints and only hope that the recent fires did not affect their ability to offer their home up for future travelers.
Our stay was comfortable and we particularly enjoyed the downstairs sitting area. We appreciated getting to know Gary and Janice. They were very accommodating and helpful in directing us to where we wanted to go.
If you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay in the Springs and love the Garden of the Gods, this is the place for you! We were literally in walking distance to the park and a short drive to Manitou Springs and Colorado City. Downtown Springs was pretty close by as well. The place for rent is the lower half of their house and has been remodeled. There are still places that haven't been completed so if you are looking for posh accommodations, this is not the place for you. We had a separate bedroom as well as a pull-out style futon couch in the living room to stay in. There was also a full bathroom with comfortable bathtub. The downstairs is separated from the upstairs by an open stair well. However, the hosts were pretty quiet so it actually felt pretty private down there. There was a separate keyed entrance so it was easy to go about our business throughout the day without feeling like we had to go through someone's living room to get out.
We will stay there again!
Gary was a great guest-very polite and friendly! He left the apartment clean and we would love to have him stay again!
Gary was a pleasure to host...very friendly, kind and a great sense of humor! He stayed with us for two weeks and made every moment pleasant. We'd be willing to open up our home again to him anytime in the future!
Gary was an almost invisible guest - working long hours while he was here. But luckily I did get to meet him briefly. He was friendly, easy to please and self sufficient. Quiet, too, as I never heard him getting ready and leaving by 6 am. He was a very easy guest!
Gary stayed with his two boys and they were all very polite & clean. We didn't have much time to get to know them, but hope they will come back again! We would definitely recommend Gary and his family as guests.
Gary is a perfect guest. Very neat, polite ,quite and easy to talk to. I highly recommend him.
