I am a writer. I lived in New York City for 11 years and attended Columbia University before moving to West Palm Beach, Fl.
Beth was very nice, everything at the house was exactly as described, and she was quick to respond by text to any inquiry (I even texted her at 3am once and she literally wrote back within seconds!). However, the house was a poor fit for our needs. The overall location felt a bit sketchy and was out of the way, so we had to cab it everywhere which cost us a lot. (In hindsight, would have been cheaper and a better experience to stay at a hotel closer to the water/downtown area.) Also did not sleep the last night which ended the trip on a bad note (not her fault of course, but the train whistles and airplanes flying overhead didn't help). And to be fair, other reviewers noted those aspects so it's our own fault for not heeding their warnings.
Depends on what you are looking to get out of your stay - for us personally, the house was very cute and charming, but not a good fit.
We spent one month here with our two little boys (2 1/2 year and 7 months old) and we definitely loved it. The house and especially the garden is perfect for children. Me and my husband enjoyed the outdoor space mainly in the evenings when the boys were already in bed.
Beth gave us a warm welcome and lots of tipps what do in the area.
We had a very good stay in Beth's house. She a great landlord, very attentive to quickly answer every question your may ask. There are 2 bikes in the garage to ride in West palm beach or Palm beach.
What we most appreciated is to feel more at a friend's than in a rent.
We will come again :)
Beth's home is even more bright and beautiful than the posted pictures suggest. There is as much outdoor as indoor space. The house was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. Beth's bookshelves are indeed a pleasure to peruse and the hammock and outdoor breakfast nook are great places to read. We were not remotely bothered by the occasional and soon unnoticed plane traffic. Beth's place felt like home and we highly recommend it.
I stayed at Beth's for over a month while in town on business and her home perfectly met my expectations. The neighborhood was friendly, very convenient to downtown and the beach, with good restaurants walking distance away which we enjoyed frequenting. We spent much time in the evening sitting outside in Beth's lovely garden which made us really feel at home. There was plenty of room inside and out to spread out, and I think her house is a very good value whatever the length of your stay. And Beth is very responsive should you need assistance. I'd be happy to stay here again.
We have spent one week in January in Beth´s home. It was nice and the interior is adapted to the Key West style of the house. There are only one or two things which could be better: 1. one of the doors between bedroom an bath can´t close completly (too short) and 2. the shower could be better. That there is no TV is very good, so we have played more games in our family. All in all our stay in this house was very pleasant and we can recommend it for that price.
We really liked Beth's cute old-fashioned house. Bed was comfortable, the porch was breezy and pleasant, we enjoyed browsing in her extensive library and relaxing in the hammock in her attractive little garden! She was responsive to email and phone, very open and friendly. No TV so bring your laptop if you want to watch anything. Main drawback was the airplane noise from the nearby airport, but running the AC at night blocked the sound enough for us to sleep well.
I recently rented this property for the summer and I have nothing but positive comments to share. The property itself is in a great location - a short walk to shops, restaurants, and the intercoastal. The house itself is welcoming and well stocked with books, and I spent many a weekend lounging in the hammock reading. Beth is a great landlord and I highly recommend staying here if you have a chance.
We enjoyed a week at Beth's house. True to the of title of the listing, the house is, indeed, charming. We enjoyed eating breakfast outside on the covered patio and relaxing in the sun-room. Mid-way through our stay, Beth sent us a message to make sure everything was going well and put us in touch with a neighbor who was extremely friendly and helpful with local advice. As mentioned in a different review, the airport is nearby which is great when trying to catch a flight, but the noise of the planes is something to get used to during the daytime. Not a major problem, at all, but something to adjust to. Overall, a great experience!
Beth is very nice and helpful! The house is very cute with everything you need. We had a great time over there. The location is perfect with everything nearby you might need (Publix, CVS, City Place with many good restaurants, etc.).
Would definetely recommend to others!
Thanks a lot for the great time we had!
Beth was a great guest. She was clean, courteous, and very fun to talk with. We would love to have her again if she ever came through the Richmond area.
I have known Beth for over 20 years. She is a warm, trustworthy and hardworking person. Her home reflects all of the above. Every inch of her charming home is well cared for and loved. The home is spacious and clean. Lots of amazing light and the yard is magnificent. Wait until you curl up with your favorite book and relax in the hammock - or cook a delicious meal in her adorable kitchen and then enjoy eating it on the back patio - she has created an oasis. It is a peaceful place that is close to anywhere you need to go in West Palm.
