We stayed at this house with our family one week and we had a wonderful time there. It`s a lovely, comfortable house with a lot of space and a calm surrounding. When we had questions, Mary helped us immediately. Especially our son (16) enjoyed makin fire with peat.
The cottage is situated in a spectacular landscape. It was spacious and well equipped. Our kids loved the sheep which showed up around the house every morning. We used the cottage as a base to explore the Connamarra peninsula and had a great time!
Mary was very welcoming and prompt about responding to questions and any requests we had. The house is simple and rustic, but has all the necessities you would need, including wifi and laundry. Plenty beds for all of us (we were a family of 6). Not sure if all the cottages are similar, but the bathtub upstairs is situated under the slant of the roof so an adult can't stand up, but it worked to bath the kids and there is a full shower downstairs. The area is beautiful and isolated in the hills of Connemara about 30-40 minutes from Galway. Perfect if you are wanting to get away from it all and not be surrounded by tourists. Also, the history of the Quiet Man's bridge was interesting. We ended up running the heat at night which totaled to about 30 Euros for two nights. (Wasn't bad at all since that seems to be what others mentioned in their posts). Quite worth it since we were toasty warm at night despite the chilly temps outside.
We arrived at Connemara country cottages for a weekend with friends. We were greeted by lovely people and a stunning authentic cottage up in the hills.. The area was rustic and beautiful. We had a stunning cottage that was fully equipped with everything a group or family would need. We spent the weekend tucked up beside the blazing turf logged fire. In the morning we ate our breakfast in front of the bay window watching the cows and sheep..the most beautiful scenery.. Relaxing away from all forms of social Madrid, phones and the busy cities. Peace!! Well worth a stay!
We were two families of 4 adults and 3 children who stayed in the cottage just next to the reception. Mary was there to greet us on arrival and showed us around the house.
The cottage is in a beautiful location，has the rural touch and is absolutely comfy.
It has easy access to the oughterard town which has got good butchers and supermarkets. There are few restuarants too. It’s a good base to visit clifden and other attractions nearby.
The reception has wifi，brochures for good places to visit and eat. It also had a gamut of DVDs for the kids and some good movies.
We were very satisfied with the two nights stay and would surely recommend this place. And, Mary and her husband are very hospitable.
This place it's for nature's lovers! Deep in the green of Connemara we could see horses eating outside our cottage. WOW! But not only horses outside ..sometimes some spider was inside! This is the nature in all her beauty!
Bedding, bathroom and the kitchen furniture were well cleaned and the house is fully equipped.
There's a reception always opened for guests where you find the wi-fi, one pc, many dvd films to see and some toys for kids.
Mary is kind and helpful and we had a comfortable holiday in her cottage!
We passed very good holidays on Cottage in Connemara. The cottage is nice traditional house with a roof in stubble, with big ventilated rooms and particulary, a great living room with several windows allowing to have the landscape under different orientation.
Note there are many bumblebees due to proximity of nature.
Enjoy live in this cottage
Nous avons passé trois agréables jours et nuit au cottage chez Mary. L'endroit est calme, spacieux et bien équipé. Les cottages sont idéalement situés pour visiter le connemara.
The cottage does have good views of the mountains and countryside as advertised. We stayed in a two bedroom cottage with twin and king bedrooms. The cottage also included a kitchen with washer/dryer, which was small. The cottage smelled of cigarettes - note that the listing states that smoking is allowed, so be aware if you are a nonsmoker. There is no wifi in the cottage itself - the wifi is available in reception which is a 5 minute walk from the cottage we stayed in. The cottage is off the main road and is in a quiet rural setting and is a 10-15 minute drive from the village.
