Thanks a lot Edwina. Nice and quiet place for stay. Apartments close to ferry. 10 min walk. Clean. Well equip kitchen. Large terrace.
Edwina was a great host. Her communication is excellent.
The flat is tidy and clean with a big comfy couch. It's nice to have the benefits of a kitchen and washing machine.
Lamma Island is a great place to stay. I enjoyed it because it was quiet, away from the centre of Hong Kong but it's easy to travel into the city by ferry.
My second stay at Edwina's, it was very nice, a peaceful spot and found some great hiking trails the time just up the hill. Roommates friendly and quiet, pleasant community.
This place is off the beaten path, up an alley just minutes from the main village on Lamma Island. Quiet, comfortable, reasonable, a great find for visiting Hong Kong. Ferry takes about 20 minutes.
First of all, the host were not specific about the long hike up the hill, which includes an incline of 45 degrees as part of the journey, and it is located at the second 'old' village, quite a ways from the pier. The hike takes a good 20 minutes or so to reach the house, which is back behind the 'regent store' as instructed. Once arrived, I find myself in this cold, dark house set in the woods. My blue/pink room is cold and damp with a musty smell to it. The painting/decor of the room is, may I say, 'hideous'. It reminded me of the cheap budget rooms I used to come across when travelling across India back in the late 80's. The shared bathroom seems fine except for the man's underwear hanging at the shower. Well, after being at the house for 20 minutes or so, I have decided that this is not for me, the major deciding factor being the 45 degrees incline that puts a lot of stress on my just recovering right knee since operation, especially when travelling downhill. It puts a lot of weight and stress on it and I didn't think I could survive this for at least few times a day for the next week. The host was 'out of town' when I tried to call her from the telephone borrowed from the nice Regent store owner and there were no replies. It took several attempts before I finally got a hold of her via emails. Her basic reply to my situation was, and I quote: 'The slope is being mentioned in most of the reviews, it is open information for you to access.' That was about as helpful as I could ever get from Edwina Cheung during this whole trip. The outcome: I stay at this place for a whole duration of 20 minutes on the first late afternoon upon arrival, had a nice short visit with the regent store owner close by that was very helpful, then took a long stroll along the new village by the pier and admired the friendliness of the local islanders and the variety of restaurants and pubs available at Lamma and wished I have found a better place that I could actually stay at and enjoy this scenery. Instead, I took the next ferry back to HK and stayed at a hotel for the duration of my stay in HK. So be forewarned, don't expect to get much help from this host, I didn't. BTW, I tried to request help from Airnb on that same afternoon with my situation but I didn't get a response from them at all. This is unfortunately a truly disappointing experience, first one since I have used Airnb's services. A total waste of time and money and a taste of what an uncaring host with a nonchalant attitude is like but fortunately, I didn't let it ruin my trip, just another lesson learned.
Great place - very comfortable, quiet, and way more accessible to Hong Kong island than I expected. The neighbours are friendly, and Lamma Island is a gem.
amazing host! great location on lovely lamma island. Edwina is extremely friendly and was super helpful at every step.
The reservation was canceled 37 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Edwina's is an excellent choice for your stay on Lamma Island. While you will need to follow the directions carefully first time, once you are settled you will love the little village and find it easy to get around the island from here.
Roland is a great housemate and very helpful.
The room is big and the amenities are all you need. I would definitely come back if I returned to Lamma.
