I'm a South Bay journalist who has been working at local news weeklies for mumble, mumble years as a writer and an editor. I enjoy the single life in the Bay Area and beyond: live music shows, wine tasting, hiking, etc. I also make my own music as a singer and keyboard player. I'm a veteran Burner, having been to the playa eight times.
Given that I spend a fair amount of time at work and play outside the home, I tend to be pretty mellow when I'm at home, in the "feet up with a glass of wine and a Trader Joe's microwaveable meal" sense. I consider home, be it mine or someone else's, a place to decompress. I'm also neat out of necessity, since if something's not organized, it runs a great risk of being lost and/or forgotten.
As for travel, I straddle the line between visiting places I love and/or where friends live (New Orleans, Atlanta, Amsterdam, Baja) and places that are still on by bucket list (Thailand, Austin, Mexico). When I'm traveling solo, I prefer to stay in B&Bs or hostels as opposed to hotels, since it's a great way to meet others and share the experience. As a traveler on a tight budget, Airbnb has huge appeal.
