We LOVED staying here during SXSW. Two of my co-workers and I came during SXSW Interactive week and the house was absolutely perfect for us. It was in really close proximity to coffee shops and good eating spots that were away from the crowds, but also within easy biking distance to e. 6th street. The sleeping situation was great, we were all very comfortable and enjoyed chicken responsibilities each day (plus the benefit of free eggs!) :) Can't recommend Hilary enough, would definitely stay here again when in Austin!
Great guest, super neat and tidy. Very quiet. Hilary is welcome back any time.
We would be glad to have Hilary stay with us again!
Hillary had to cancel her reservation last minute. So sorry she was not able to make it to town. Look forward to perhaps a visit in the future.
Wow, what great guests! Hilary & Sam were wonderful.
Hosting is double the fun when you get to meet such fabulous folks!
Thumbs up high =)
I rented Hilary's guest room last year and since then, we've become great friends! She's a wonderful and loving person with an adorable house that she renovated over the last two years. It’s located on the East Side of Austin in biking distance of coffee shops (Thunderbird Coffee), restaurants (Salty Sow, El Chile, Hillside Pharmacy) and bars (along 11th or 6th street). The house has a great front porch. Inside, it’s warm and inviting with great natural lighting and ceiling fans in every room. Hilary will make you feel at home and give you advice on things to do around town. And she’s always on the go so you’ll have plenty of privacy and space to relax.
I've known Hilary for the last year and she is a super cool awesome lady. She's very laid back and welcoming and may strum some banjo chords for you if you're lucky.
We went camping together one time and we canoed down a big lake, then I sang her songs on my ukulele until she drifted off into sweet slumber.
I highly recommend staying with her!
Hilary's house on the East Side is a beautiful small 1930s classic. The room she is sharing with airbnb guests is comfortable and clean with good lighting. It is also private from her room and from the common living area. You will feel like you are in your own wing with plenty of privacy. Hilary is a fine host -- she has plenty of her own life and will never intrude on yours, but she will attend to your comfort and give good advice on how to enjoy Austin. I know Hilary well, I run an airbnb guesthouse nearby, and I heartily recommend her happy, warm home.
Oh, the house is gorgeous. I should know: I helped renovate it! Soaring ceilings, a fantastic porch, a pretty yard, a lovely neighborhood. It's no mistake that we live down the street from each other. The cemetery is a wonderful (and handy) place to go for a run, if you don't feel like trekking the two miles to the hike and bike. The highway and downtown are close. Coffee shops are within 10 minutes, walking.
And then there's Hilary. We met about three years ago through mutual friends, but have come to be close through volunteer time at our community bike shop and a shared love of FUN. She is funny, reasonable, happy, and kind. If you aren't a jerk and you know how to hang out, I think it will be hard not to enjoy a sublet with Hilary.
