The house was great, perfectly located and very pretty. Rooms are spacious and perfectly clean, I'll definitely come back next time!
A brilliant experience all round. The house was perfect and Miguel and Francisco were both very helpful. Couldn't recommend highly enough.
My husband and I taught a month-long writing workshop in Lisbon. This apartment was a fantstic space for our family. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the hosts beautifully arranged the space to accomodate our small children--there was a crib, high chair, and baby gate at the top of the stairs. Praca Flores, about 3 blocks away, is a square of lovely restaurants around a small playground and a goldfish-filled fountain. The neighbors are friendly, and Malfada has compiled a notebook of wonderful advice for making the most of the city. Our work required us to attend lectures on opposite ends of the main part of the city. We could walk to every event from this apartment. When we went out with the kids, it was only a block to the Tram 28 stop. Perfect location!
This was a cozy, cost-effective, and happy accommodation for our group of five adults on our first trip to Lisbon. We booked the listing just a few minutes after looking on airbnb because it is in the old city. But only after our arrival did we understand how good the location is. It is on the edge of Bairro Alto and Sao Bento, just up the steps from the Assembly building. Easy walking distance (for those with the ambition to deal with Lisbon's hills) to restaurants and nightlife in Bairro Alto. Close to the 28 tram. Easy to get cabs by walking down to the Assembly. There are graffiti tags in the neighborhood that add to the adventure.
Accommodations were great. The upstairs bedrooms are large and bright - the second floor a large master suite with a little balcony over the street, with two bedrooms and a shared bath on the third floor. Downstairs has a kitchen and comfy living/dining area. Flat-screen tv (that we did not use much) and high-speed wifi that accommodated lots of our laptops (signal is best in the living room). The kitchen is fully-equipped, though we ended up on an almost continuous expedition to Lisbon's cafe bars and restaurants.
MIguel and Mafalda made sure that Francisco, with his fluent English, was there to greet us when our cab arrived from the airport, and again as we were leaving. He gave us a walk around the neighborhood to show us shops, food stores, restaurants, and transit connections. Could not have been more friendly and accommodating.
In short, five stars to Lisbon and to Miguel/Mafalda.
Miguel and Mafalda were superlative hosts. Very accommodating, friendly and useful at all times. The house was charming and very well appointed!
Beautiful traditional Portuguese home. Hosts were very helpful, providing a great list of things to do and places to see, much better than what you find in the guidebooks. Close to everything you need...walk any direction five minutes and you reach supermarkets, bars, cafes, restaurants and main train stations.
If I had to nitpick, the lounge area is a touch dark, but you are never inside much during the day so you don't notice it. Highly recommend.
