Kathleen's home provides all the creature comforts you are likely accustomed to while immersed in lovely GTO. If you are are familiar with Mexico you will be especially appreciative of consistent hot water, quality pillows and linens, and purified water on tap. And VITAMIX. To know it is to love it. To have one in a rental in Mexico is to truly be living the dream.
Kathleen ensures the house is well stocked with toilet paper, cleaning and cooking supplies and a week's worth of morning coffee so you won't have need to purchase these staples.
The home is gorgeous as stated and the craftsmanship is of unusually high quality for Mexico. It is centered within an easy walk to neighborhood produce and meat markets. Internet is stable and fine for all vacation and movie watching needs but a little on the slow end if you are a programmer (3-4 megabits download/0.3-0.4 megabits upload; tech workers may want to get their caffeine and internet boost at lovely Cafe Tal). The neighbors are friendly and the surrounding homes and streets are clean and well maintained.
As is often the case in these hillside homes the multiple levels mean multiple sets of stairs. Consider it a part of your fitness routine!
There is no bathroom in the master bedroom but the king sized bed means everyone can spread out comfortably and kids can join you if needed.
Kathleen herself is a gem of a host. I cannot state enough how valuable it is to have your host in the same city and be a reliable communicator! She met with us at the start and end of our stay and even provided baby clothing detergent for our young son. I never had to wait long for a response if I had a question, need or concern. I would gladly return for another extended visit if in Guanajuato again!
This house is amazing! The three floors are well equipped, nicely decorated, very clean, comfortable, charming! The view is beautiful from all the rooms (and overall from the terrace). Permanently warm water for shower and purified water for drinking. And the last, but not the least, we have never been so well received in a location. With Kathleen, you feel home abroad. Possibility to park nearby.
The place is to reach by foot (+-200 mt from the driving road) by a steep alley. We warmly recommend Kathleen house! Jean-Louis & Maria from Belgium.
First of all, Kathleen is prompt with her communications. Also her information is clear and helpful. Finally we worked directly with her, and she remained available and helpful throughout our stay.
The house is accurately described. Simple and spacious, newly furnished. It has a commanding view over the city from the rooftop deck.
The house is not in the central touristic district. By contrast, it resides in a bustling, normal, thriving neighborhood.
We saw several other homes during our month stay in Guanajuato, and we found Kathleen's home very good value.
We would return again if looking for similar accommodations.
Small touches made the stay noteworthy. I.e. Binoculars were handy, coffee made the first morning easy, soaps and shampoos got us out the door smelling less traveled. Internet was strong and steady, enough for streaming.
Kathleen knows her market, and is a strong yet quiet resource to her clients.
Kathleen was welcoming and helpful from the beginning. The house was clean and just as advertised. There's lots of space on the three stories and the views are spectacular. Unfortunately, Guanajuato was cold and there wasn't any heat in the house. But, everyone was cold during that time. So, no fault of Kathleen.
I'd like to mention that the walk up to Kathleen's home is difficult for some. I had a friend visit us one day and she had a hard time climbing up the callejon. Just a tip so if you have any problems with your health or knees re-think this as a place for you. Two more tips, the bedrooms are bright at night, so bring a sleep mask and it can get very noisy, with dogs barking and kids playing so ear plugs help. Also, when you are in the 2nd floor bedroom you must go down or up one flight for the toilet. There is only a shower in the 2nd floor bedroom. However, I can recommend this place and enjoyed staying there and meeting Kathleen. She's very friendly and addresses problems quickly.
Kathleen's apartment was identical to the ad's description. We arrived with two families (7 total) and had a great time in there. It was extremely clean, comfortable and very well located near the city's center, in an area where street parking is much more available. Kathleen was very kind and helpful when we met, and she took the time to explain all her apartment features, as well as some tips about touring through the city. I'll definitely will use it again without hesitating in my next visit to Guanajuato.
Let me start with saying thanks to kathleen for their warm welcome to their house. The house was clean, spacious and beautiful. It is very comfortable and has everything you need to spend a great moment. Should you want to sip a good glass of wine on the terrace while admiring the city of guanajuato, there you go. Kathleen was extremely communicative before, and after our stay.
I highly recommend this place.
The three-story home sits outside but not inconveniently far from the historic centro. As is the norm in Guanajuato, it sits up a somewhat steep, walking-only callejon. The homes on the walk up are colorfully painted, with plants on the railings, and well-kept patios, indicating that Kathleen's neighbors obviously care about their homes and their surroundings. The house itself is three stories in a relatively pared-down style with beautiful wood furniture and nicely styled ceilings as seen in the photos, very large and comfortable beds, consistent Internet, and a roof with chairs and a view across Guanajuato. Each floor consists of more or less one expansive room, with bathrooms on the first and third floors, and showers on the second and third floors with wonderfully hot water. Although we had no problems that Kathleen needed to attend to, she gave every reason for us to think that she would be prompt about addressing any issues. The only cause for complaint is that the callejon does not let out onto a particularly beautiful touristy street or plaza, but a more ordinary street that requires further walking after reaching the base of the callejon, then going around a corner and down some stairs before reaching a central area where one can find taxis or buses or very much to look at. If one were looking for a house perfectly located in the heart of Guanajuato, this wouldn't be it, but we found the location preferable. It was the middle of the noisy Cervantino festival, and the center was still in walking distance or a cheap bus ride away. The value of the house was very good: we stayed for 11 nights and would have been happy to stay for a month.
We had a wonderful stay. The house was exactly as Kathleen described. Beds really comfortable. We found everything we needed. Security at the house is really good. We felt safe and secure.
Location is great... About 8 mins to the centre of town. Typically we walked into town and cabbed back.. Which cost about 40 pesos a trip.
Kathleen was excellent. She organized us to be picked up when we arrived. She met at the house and told us loads of useful information. We arrived early evening and didn't want to go out that night she she even organized our pizza delivery and bought us breakfast supplies.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Kathleen or the property.
We were here for 3 mos. This is indeed a nice house. The neighborhood felt safe and family friendly. It's clean and comfortable. We used the kitchen a lot, which has all the basic implements plus a water filter. It's a long walk (30 min) to the Commercial Mexicana super market, but taxi is a simple option or there are umpteen little stores as close as next door for milk etc. and Mercado Embajadoras (5 min walk) was great for fruit and veg. Kathleen went the extra mile to make sure we had what we needed. No complaints. Oh, and the view from the rooftop is phenomenal!
Kathleen kindly arranged for me to be picked up from centrale by her friends on the evening I arrived. They brought me to her place which is located up a quite steep callejon in Guanajuato. The house is beautiful and is fully furnished with everything you could possibly need. From the terrazza you can see the mountains and the city. From the 3rd floor living room there is a 180 degree view of Guanajuato which is super beautiful at sunset. You can also hear the marching bands.
Kathleen is great she checked on me a bunch to see how things were going. She also left an amazing supply of toiletries, first aid supplies etc.
The neighborhood is a little bit out of the centro but you can walk there easily.
The kids and residents in this callejon were generally very friendly and nice to me. I have liked living here so much that I am in fact staying for another month. Only drawback with this beautiful house is that the callejon is pedestrian only, meaning late at night you can only take a taxi to Calle Pastita and then you have to walk up the callejon in the dark which is not good if you are solo.
Overall highly recommend if you want spectacular views of the city and luxury accommodation.
