In the customer service industry for over 25 years, I was made to take care of people and being able to create The Bard's Nest was a dream realized. Getting to do the decorating was a lovely bonus!

This was our second time staying here, and it was at least as lovely this time around! It's a fantastic location with lots of fun walking and window shopping nearby, and of course is just around the corner from the incredible Shakespeare theatre. It's an adorable apartment, impeccably clean and with all the comforts we could hope for -- luxurious bedding, coffee & tea, granola bars for late night hunger pangs, even heated tile floors in the bathroom which were already on when we arrived! The host Susan was fun and welcoming with lots of recommendations around town. We'll definitely stay here again and would send friends here!
So nice to have you visit again. Glad I got to meet you this time!
The Bard's Nest is the ideal version of Airbnb's listings! I've stayed overnight in Staunton at the Bard's Nest on several occasions and have found it be an consistently excellent experience. Small thoughtful details, a truly comfortable bed, and always sparklingly clean. Susan is quickly responsive and the perfect combination of accessible but easy going. The location is ideal, both for practical reasons (historic downtown is right out of your door) and for aesthetic experience (you can't beat the charm of this mountain town). The apartment is charmingly appointed and has original artwork, a stylish renovation with a few vintage pieces. Since I travel through the area a few times a year, I can say with confidence that The Bard's Nest is one of the best experiences I've found!
Thanks Jennifer, always love having you stay!
This was the perfect Air BNB experience - Susan was super responsive, welcomed us at the door with insider's tips, and her place was perfect. She had some great recommendations on where to go in Staunton (The Shack - awesome!) and had nice touches of coffee, granola bars, and an information pack. The Bard's Nest itself is fantastic - especially the heated floor in the bathroom. And it's the perfect location - we didn't have to drive anywhere while we were there. All in all, we can't wait to go back and would highly recommend saying her while in Staunton!
Thanks for staying, Alex!
Great stay! Susan was there upon arrival and had great suggestions for the area. Beautiful apartment in the center of town. Can't beat the location. Looking forward to coming back
The Bard's Nest was charming, comfortable, and perfectly located for the American Shakespeare Center, downtown shops, and restaurants. Susan was a terrific host and really made us feel welcomed. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend to friends and family.
Thanks Callie! Hope to see you again!
Susan is truly a nice host. Thoughtful, prompt, and professional.
The location was immaculately clean and well arranged. It was safe and quiet despite being right in the heart of downtown Staunton. It boasted amenities that I have never experienced before such as heated bathroom tiles.
Literally right across the street is one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at (Zynodoa) and a block away, just around the corner is one of the best theaters I have ever stepped foot in (American Shakespeare Center / Blackfriar's Theater).
I would not recommend any other lodging for anyone looking to visit Staunton.
So nice to meet you!
Susan has a great place here -- couldn't be more convenient to the great things Staunton has to offer downtown. Literally steps from the world-class Blackfriars Theatre, and just as close to some excellent restaurants, bookstores, and other shops. The Nest is extremely clean, well-furnished, and comfortable, with heated floors and other amenities you don't often find in this category. We'll be back.
Susan provided an excellent accommodation once again for our second stay at The Bard's Nest in two years. The space is a great place to rest and relax after a day watching Shakespeare and exploring the developing culinary talent across Staunton! We appreciate the kitchen, living room, and bedroom -- making it far more comfortable than a hotel. The room gets a little cold in mid-winter, but a few minutes of running the two units and space heater (and heated bathroom floor!) more than makes up for the minor inconvenience. We loved our stay and would definitely come again!
Susan made my first experience booking with airbnb a very pleasant one! She was very prompt at responding and her husband, Steve, was very friendly when we met.
The Bard's Nest exceeded my expectations! I booked one night as a birthday surprise for my boyfriend, despite the fact that we both live in downtown Staunton, for a night away from home. It's the perfect location! Right in the middle of downtown, steps away from incredible restaurants, bars, and entertainment. The decor is lovely and cozy, the cleanliness and spaciousness was impressive, and everything we needed for our stay was provided. Though we only stayed one night this would be perfect for a longer stay as The Bard's Nest includes a washer/dryer, full kitchen with cookware and kitchen necessities, and full bathroom with toiletries (the heated bathroom floors are awesome!)
Our experience was so wonderful that we will certainly be booking with Susan again and very much look forward to future stays at The Bard's Nest!!
P.s.- Check out Susan's boutique Pretty Pretty while visiting! :)
Susan met us at the property when we arrived in town and the Bard's Nest is better than described! The apartment is very clean and has everything you'll need for a stay in Staunton. The location is perfect, the amenities are excellent, and Susan's recommendations on restaurants in the area were exactly what we were looking for. The heated floors in the bathroom and washer/dryer were nice extras. The Bard's Nest is definitely a "home away from home" in Staunton.
Great guests !
Susan and her husband, Steve, were delightful guests. They were very communicative regarding their arrival and departure times, respectful of the space, and a genuine joy to talk to. We loved hosting them and they are welcome back anytime.
