We really enjoyed our stay, in a beautiful and quiet location. It was clean, comfortable and we were made very welcome. The sofa pulls out to create a second bed in the living room, and this was much appreciated. thanks Helen!
Thank you Clara, we are relatively new to Air B&B and I appreciate your comment about directions etc. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay and we would love to host you again. Thanks Helen
We had a great stay at this lovely country home. Wish we had more time to explore the surrounds. We visited the places Helen suggested and we were not disappointed. Fresh farm eggs and home baked bread were a nice surprise on arrival.
The Annex is a ground-floor wing of a fine old house set in beautiful, extensive gardens with views over glorious, open countryside. It offers spacious, elegant accommodation featuring a large, restfully decorated bedroom, complete with genuine double iron bedstead and overlooking the gardens and beyond to unspoiled countryside, a large, well-equipped dining kitchen, a convenient bathroom and a separate old-world country house style drawing room finished in traditional colours, all containing pieces of lustrous, polished-wood antique furniture. It is completely self-contained with its own entrance and access to a large, secure parking area, and provides full self-catering facilities.
Despite arriving while our hosts were fully occupied with a busy family and friends garden barbeque, we were warmly welcomed by Helen and George, shown around and invited to join the proceedings! While such al fresco banqueting is unlikely to be a regular feature of lets at this prestige venue, the warmth and generosity of their welcome provides an insight to the friendliness of our hosts.
Our stay was of only two nights, allowing just one whole day to explore the area,so we spent a fascinating afternoon, totally engrossed in the unusual delights of the extensive, local Sensory Garden, a true hidden gem that is well worth a visit. Its features are far too numerous to enumerate here, but your hosts will be happy to provide directions.
Then on to the county town of Kilkenny, which has interesting buildings, a castle and welcoming old pubs (and certainly much more, but we were out of time).
In summary, very pleasant accommodation, great people and a superb country setting. Book it!
