To reiterate the last reviewer: "Karen was very helpful, accommodating, flexible, and accessible, even though she was away."
The roommates are also quite friendly. And it's very much an active house, with the common area pretty frequently hosting guests, so lots of new faces cycle through.
The room itself was a bit on the messy side; that said, it's very large and there was certainly plenty of space for my things, so it wasn't really a problem.
The location is...inconvenient. Excelsior is a much safer, more friendly neighborhood than I'd anticipated, so if you don't mind the 10 minute walk to the bus and the 30-60 minute ride into the city, it's quiet, peaceful, and there are some great food options little known to the rest of San Francisco.
In short: if you're looking for a deluxe San Francisco bed and breakfast vacation experience, this is probably not the place for you. But if you're looking for a reasonably-priced place to stay for a while that's more private and friendly than a hostel, then it may very well be.
Karen was very helpful, accommodating, flexible, and accessible, even though she was away. She made sure I had everything I needed and knew exactly how to get to her place from the airport. I enjoyed my stay. Her bed was large & comfortable (loved her sheets!), the room spacious, and her roommate friendly.
The only thing is the house wasn't as clean as I would have preferred. But overall a good, affordable option for young people. It was kind of on the outskirts of the city, but public transportation was definitely manageable from there. It's an interesting, unpretentious neighborhood that I felt comfortable walking around in.
It was great having Karen here. She was quiet, respectful and conscientious, as was her friend!!
I wish her the best of luck in her new digs in SF. Congratulations and good luck on your new adventure!!
