We are a people-loving family that lives in Lancaster City, PA - walking distance from downtown attractions. We are typically a very active and adventurous family and are constantly learning and trying new things.
Both of us have taught in an elementary school, been staff at childrens' summer camps, and have been involved in various children and teen programs. Anna is a stay at home mom and cares for and home-schools our two children (ages 3 and 6). Clair works on at his family's 5-generation fruit farm and is working on an undergraduate degree after 15 years ago.
We enjoy the outdoors and a family camping trip is always a highlight of the year.
Although we both grew up in rural Lancaster County, we now live in a low-income neighborhood in the small city of Lancaster. We love our neighborhood and are learning how best to contribute as neighbors in an economically depressed and socially dysfunctional area of the city.
We enjoy those that enjoy community, those from other cultures/religions, children, the poor, people that are always learning and trying new things, people that take risks, people that see beyond their own time and place in the world.
Here are some of our interests:
Learning from other people/cultures, urban community development, child care/development, criminal justice reform, a strange mix of both culture jamming and cultural appreciation, history, camping/hiking, nature/environmental science, engaging social and political issues from the bottom up, sustainable agriculture and food security, simple living/anti-consumerism, urban homesteading, gardening, "neighboring", and to sum it up: loving God and loving people.
Our life's philosophy is:
Treat others the way you want to be treated. The single greatest theme in our life purpose is hope.
