Before I reserved, Justin was very smooth and easy like any good host. After I have made the transaction he called me twice (before 70 days of the check-in time). Starting from an interview ending by personal photos! Even wondering a lot! About my phone number (why it's from another state than the one I live? ), also wondering about my trip and so curious about my race (I am American but not originally; I think it's an issue for him). For me I wasn't comfortable after that, I didn't use to that from any host, especially that I have big trip, I don't really have a time for each host calling and doing interview or actually investigating, then after two day, asking for personal pics, and connecting with him via social network. I said to him later if you are not comfortable please cancel it. I wanted him badly to cancel it, but he didn't want to add another cancelation to his reputation.
Backyard was great, kitchen has good equipment.
When I open the door of Justin house I smell a disgusting smell.
Bath tub has disgusting black stains also the floor.
Beds are not comfortable at all except the main room, house ideally for two adult, one child and one infant.
There's a lot of insect live in the house like spiders, and there's insect that makes you rub your skin most of the time.
No place to put your stuff in.
Justin were greedy, he changed his plans and minimize the number of days of our stay, and didn't even adjust the price.
No Air-conditioning, I have spend 14 days out of 21 days in very hot unbearable weather.
During my stay in the hot days, in the end of june and the beginning of july Justin's gardener didn't show up for almost a week, the plants and the grass almost dying, then I step up, I took care of it and water his backyard as it's my own, never mention it to him and ask money for it or even thanks, but he rewarded me with saying that me and my family filthy and acquire the whole security deposit for being filthy, although, I spend one day prior to my departure cleaning and wiping his floor as I always did in every host space-also-I-have-cleaned-stuff-that-I-found-it-nasty-when-I-arrive-(Windows,-fridge)-(I-swear-to-GOD-that-every-thing-I-mentioned-is-true)
When we arrived we discover he has one bathroom out of order.
Main room pillow have yellow stain like never washed.
SAFTEY:After we have load our luggage in the car, and the last day of our stay around 2 a.m, lucky me I was up, we saw someone getting closer to the car and turn his cellphone flash on and trying to look inside, after I got out of home, he escaped!!.
I don't recommend Justin's house unless if you have time for investigation, bearing the smell, insect, rub-your-skin-most-of-the-time, and willing to give up the security deposit for unfair accusation not even close from the truth.
Our family had a wonderful stay in Justin's home during our visit to Portland. We arrived into town a little early, and so we stopped for a walk at one of the parks close by. The neighborhood is easy to navigate and I would describe it as moderately quiet suburban. The house itself was a perfect set-up for us with our 18 month old, who had a crib and toys to borrow all weekend, as well as chickens to visit and to gather eggs from. The style details and color choices of the house were as inspiring as they were relaxing. Really an enjoyable ambiance. We all slept very comfortably, and would stay there again!

Justin's home was a perfect homebase for my Thanksgiving trip--the kitchen had everything we needed to cook and enjoy the day, and the table was already beautifully presented when we arrived. What a nice touch! My friends who are based in Portland came over to visit, and they couldn't get over how homey and perfectly decorated the space was (also: fireplace--what a plus in the cold weather), and how welcoming the neighborhood. Justin himself was easy to communicate with, and the check-in/out process was painless. Highly recommend this host and place!
The home would be great for a family with children, as the room with the twin bed is actually child's room and also has a crib in it. The office bed is on the floor, so be mindful if someone would have difficulty getting up and down to it.
The area has a great farmers market on the weekend and there is a lot around to see and do.
The chickens are pretty darn cute too.
Drive into Portland is easy and no hassle.
We just finished up a fantastic trip to Portland and our one month stay at Justin's house was an integral part of that great time. The house is well depicted in the photos posted by Justin. The house is on the small side, but has a great open floor plan and thanks to Justin's modern/contemporary decorating style it is comfy and not cluttered. The kitchen is well appointed and has everything you need to cook. The master bedroom has a comfy queen bed and there is a window a/c unit in that room. On hot days the house tends to get warm in the afternoons but the a/c does a nice job of cooling the room off and the backyard is a great retreat from warm rooms. The backyard is not fenced and looks out onto a large parcel of undeveloped land so it looks like a big meadow. There are two seating areas outside, a fire pit and a nice BBQ grill. Justin invited us to pick all the raspberries from the bushes in the garden that we wanted and we also enjoyed fresh eggs everyday from the 3 chickens. The neighbors were friendly but not intrusive. The location of the house is great - it is a pleasant 10 minute walk to the town center where the farmer's market is held 2x a week and a fountain for kids to enjoy is located. The MAX station is a mile walk and pretty much any stores you need are all within a mile or so of the house. Additionally it is a short drive to access the freeway/highways to Portland and the beaches. Without traffic downtown Portland is a quick drive. Justin was a great host and provided lots of tips on things to do in Beaverton and Portland. Whole hearted recommend this house!
