My mother, her friend and I stayed in Kath's apartment for a week. Kath was sweet and flexible, and the apartment has a super location. Unfortunately, the apartment was slightly dirty. Visitors should also be aware that the sofa bed is short and quite hard, and can be a challenge to sleep on for a whole week.
Katherine responded quickly and friendly to my emails. We met her briefly to collect the keys.
The studio is exactly like the pictures. It's on the 4th floor (no elevator), and it's bright and quiet. I'm wondering when the studio was renovated exactly, like the title suggests, since the bathroom and kitchen are a bit worn down. They are fully equipped though. The studio is very close by the subway and nice restaurants. Union Square and Whole Foods :) are within walking distance.
To sum it all up: we had a great stay in Manhattan!
Hi, I didn't meet Katherine as my girlfriend collected the keys. We had great communication from Katherine and I understand she was prompt in meeting my girlfriend and dropping off the keys. The apartment was neat and clean and in a good location. Katherine left us a few clean towels for our use. The flat is on the 4th floor so there are a lot of stairs to get you there. Inside, the apartment was neat and clean. We didn't use the kitchen at all, but the bathroom was clean and functional. Overall, a good stay for a weekend although if I were staying longer, I probably would have wanted a bigger place.
The stay was great! Nothing to complain about.
Katherine was wonderfully helpful with my arrival and departure times. Since she had no one staying at the apartment the days I arrived and left, she let me check in early and stay until I left for the airport.
The apartment was perfect for what I needed. I love the East Village, and it was a great location. The shower was a typical NYC shower--not brand new, so a little grimy, but there's nothing to be done about that. There were a few hairs on the bath towels, but the towels were clearly freshly cleaned, so it wasn't a big deal. Also, Katherine left me a hair dryer to use, which was really helpful and generous!
I would definitely stay in Katherine's apartment again. She was lovely, as was her apartment.
Katherine was very easy going and seemed happy to help. She let us in the apt. early and was easy going about check-out time. It was a great location and met our needs. We were a family of 3 and she only gave us 3 towels - no bathmat, hand-towel or washcloth. I missed having something on the bathroom floor. We also wondered why there was no top sheet on the bed - just the duvet cover (I hope she washes it after each use!) and if you want to use the coffee maker, you need to bring your own filters. The keys she left were bent and we needed to use extra-care when turning the locks so they wouldn't break inside the lock.
This quaint New York apartment was truly our home away from home. All the facilities were well looked after and we had everything that we needed for our 10 day stay.
Would strongly recommend Katherine's apartment. It is a half block walk to the nearest subway station or a short 5 minute walk to the main union square station.
Katherine was an amazing host. She made us well informed about the apartment and also about the neighborhood. It snowed on the day we were leaving but Katherine was kind enough to let us stay a few extra hours after check out (note: there were no guests checking in on that day). This was extremely lucky for us as it would have been a great ordeal for us to lug around our large suitcases for the few hours before we had to leave for the airport.
Although our stay was short in her apartment, Katherine was very friendly and helpful in many ways. Best of all is her quick response to my quires. Her apartment was very cozy and neat. The location is very convenient as well!
Katherine was a great host! The property was such an awesome place to be at due to its convenience to the upper and lower East and west.... You'll be close to a couple of subway stations just minutes away via foot. The apartment itself... Very clean! Has all the amenities you'll need. One slight improvement that may be made is the heater... It has a heater that turns on intermittently and if you're here in the winter it's gonna be cold! Our last night there we were freezing a bit... Katherine does have a small portable heater in the closet we used, made things slightly warmer but still very cold.
Other than that, I recommend this place if you're coming in warmer climates or if you've got good long Johns, come here in the winter!
I enjoyed having Katherine's family at my place very much. It was a real pleasure having them as my first Air Bnb guests. =) They were very nice and polite and left the place in tip top condition. I would love to host them again at any time...! =)
