First, I did get the check out time wrong. That was my mistake. Not a misunderstanding, but full on my mistake. When Frederica checked the place before we left, I apologized (obviously) and asked if there was a late checkout fee and she told me it was fine. So if there is a late checkout fee, please just tell me and I will willingly pay it. As a client, it isn't my responsibility to hand out a random amount of money to someone for checking out late. When we were only able to check in late and I asked for monetary compensation, Frederica did not pull money out of her pocket, she checked with the owners first. Frederica also said that the apartment was fine. We didn't cook at all, we cleaned the dishes we did use, and we kept our shoes off in the apartment. We didn't make the bed because we hope the sheets get changed between guests. I can't imagine in what way the apartment was dirty.
A welcome would have been nice. But instead we were sent away twice by the gentleman in the shop downstairs, telling us the Frederica was not there yet. Check in was between 3 and 6. We were only able to get into the apartment after 7 pm. So it wasn't only 2 hours later than check in time, it was over 4 hours. And as nice as a bottle of wine was, during that 4 hours, we had to use the washroom and had to buy food that we didn't necessarily want in order to use restaurants' bathrooms while we were paying for an apartment. And since we were told to come back twice, we couldn't really do anything with our time other than wait. We ended up paying to skip the line at the Uffizi in order to make up the lost time. That bottle of wine did not give us back half a day in Florence. But the € 30 did reimburse us for the museum booking fee and the food we bought in order to have a place to go to the washroom.
Despite this ridiculous review, I would still recommend this place. It is clean and quite and well located. I'm not being petty and I am not going to take down my positive review of the apartment.
