nice and friendly atmosphere, good communication, you get good value for your money. however, crying free-ranging roosters during the night were annoying me (although my girlfriend did not mind too much). Anyway, there are wild chickens everywhere in Paia so it is hard to avoid them..
Perfect Paia-style living! This is a simple set-up: double bed, shower, 2 burners, a fridge, and a compostable toilet. The cabin is very private and fenced in, located behind the host's main house. It only takes 5 minutes to walk into town for coffee and restaurants; the beach is a 10 minute walk. Comes with one parking space and is super close to surfing at Ho'okipa and Jaws. The host Andi is pleasant and unobtrusive, she will leave you entirely alone. There is an adorable rooster walking around that crows in the morning to make sure you don't miss the surf :-) There are sheets and plush pillows on the bed and 4 towels for the shower. Bring: beach towels, shampoo, a bar of soap. Bring or buy some ground coffee; there is a plastic coffee funnel and filters on the shelf along with cups, plates, bowls and cookware. Read up on compostable toilets before arriving; we bought an island air-freshener to keep the area smelling tropical and fresh. The lawn surrounding the cabin is well-manicured and neat. Keep in mind that this is a bare bones kind of set-up and you will love it! If you need daily maid service, air-conditioning, a massage and a bar... stick to the southern or western end of the island :-) If you want to feel like a local, get a used rental car from Sergio at Mana Aloha Used Rentals or call Maui Cruisers. They have sedans, vans, pickups, and SUV's that will save you a few bucks.
the little house near the center of paia is very practically furnished (kitchen, bed for two, shower (enough hot water) and space to putting away your stuff. it was cool and cheap, thx see you, daniel
Paia and the location of this cute cottage is perfect. However, I did not expect all the dogs and roosters within the premises.
Our neighbors do have dogs, but not us. We have a cat. Yes there are wild chickens and roosters in the neighborhood. Pretty much every local neighborhood in Hawaii has wild chickens and roosters.
