Although it is true that we had placed a small tied bag of rubbish to one side, and that there were a couple of empty water bottles for later use on the small kitchen table, plus perhaps an empty cereal packet that had been finished that morning, this hardly constituted a 'mess'. We were careful to keep the house clean and tidy, and in fact from the moment we arrived cleaned the kitchen which was not in the cleanest of states, including a banana skin by the sink, unclean stove top, and dirty cat plates, as well as the cat mess. I also fixed the disconnected sink waste pipe which was causing water to drip onto the floor beneath the sink. We did not put the garbage outside as we noticed that a pile of garbage bags had been left in the empty square throughout the time we had been there, and were only taken away on the day that Patricia arrived. We were therefore uncertain as to when the garbage would be removed, so placed the sealed rubbish bag in the unused downstairs closet, to prevent the cats from tearing it. First impressions do count, and while we understood that Patricia was likely tired after her own trip, a simple welcome would have been appreciated. We did make efforts to talk, but this often felt awkward. Having said that, it is evident that from all the reviews that Patricia is more often than not an excellent host and a lovely person, and did give us the space that we needed. We did enjoy our stay in Marrakech and had a wonderful time.
