We had a great 4-day stay in Istanbul thanks to this very nice apartment in a charming part of the city. This is one of the best airbnb listings I have encountered: the apartment is not only very well furnished but also very well decorated. It really feels like a home away from home...
Petek was a very nice host and provided us with nice recommendations on restaurants and activities in the neighborhood. Thanks again!
This truly was a home away from home and is exactly as the reviews state; it kept us warm during two days of snowstorms. The location is superb, in a charming part of the city with cafes, restaurants and antique shops lining the streets. Petek recommended great restaurants, including nearby breakfast shops (don't miss), excellent hot chocolate and a beautiful restaurant steps from the front door. Petek is a fabulous host.
We enjoyed staying in Petek's flat, which is cosy, clean and well equipped (including satellite TV, a dishwasher and a washing machine, although we didn't need to use the latter). The flat was also warm, a factor not to be neglected during winter! Another detail to mention: the coach is as comfortable as the bed. Petek gave us a most friendly welcome upon our arrival. I would certainly stay at her place again.
Petek was a wonderful host and made us feel welcome right from the beginning. We were shown around the flat (a charming appartment on a fourth floor of a building near Istiklal Street, conveniently away from all the bustle of its reknowned bars) and given lots of useful information on our stay. The flat is spacious, decorated with exquisite taste, and has a fantastic view.
The location is also excellent. Away from the more touristic quarters of Sultanameht, but still 15 to 20 minutes from the main sites by tram, the flat is in a lively neighbourhood with lots of restaurants, bars, and cafes.
In short, we had a great stay in Istanbul, and I would recommend Petek's appartment to anyone wishing to spend a few days in the city.
This was our first time in Istanbul and we couldn't have had better luck than staying at Petek's place.
The apartment's interior was beautiful, very comforting and relaxing with a stunning view over the Beyoglu district. The neighborhood it's situated in is full of wonderful cafes, antique shops and food markets. It's just close enough to wonder to main attractions and transport but also tucked off the beaten path to give a sense of what living with the locals would be like. We never felt unsafe in the streets and were greeted warmly when visiting any of the places/shops within the vicinity.
Petek made sure we were able to get to and from the airport with ease via helpful printed instructions for the taxi driver. She also supplied a list of her favorite restaurants and night spots that helped us get a feel for the city.. which many turned into highlights for us.
I can't recommend her place enough. This was definitely one of the best Airbnb experiences I've had throughout my travels!
The reservation was canceled 49 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We spent a wonderful stay in Istanbul, mainly thanks to the lovely Petek's apartment. It's really nice and clean, well furnished, and there is everything to make us feel like at home.
Plus, the apartment is really well located, in a great neighborhood, especially to go out (so many delicious restaurants!!!). And the location is convenient to reach many interesting places in Istanbul, even by feet (if you enjoy walking!). It was really easy to find it, thanks to the indications she gives on air bnb.
Petek, we just saw on our arrival, was really helpful and this if we needed anything.
It was the perfect way to discover Istanbul!
This apartment is in a great location just a 5-min walk from Istiklal. It is comfortable and perfectly met our needs. Petek was on hand to answer any requests.
This was our first Air BnB experience and it was a great start. The flat itself is lovely, nicely decorated, good light, and all the amenities as advertised. Clean, comfortable, and a nice bathroom. Overall, the place is very charming and home-like! I would stay here again and/or recommend it to friends.
The location was ideal. A few blocks from Istiklal meant that we were near enough to enjoy the "buzz" but not so close as to feel too crowded. We walked easily to Taksim and Sultanahmet, but could also choose to take the tram at the bottom of the hill when our feet were tired. There is a little market just 2 or 3 doors down that provided all we needed for breakfast and snacks, and a second market and taxi stand conveniently at the end of the street.
In general, the neighborhood is quite hilly and steep. In addition, there are 4 flights of stairs to the apartment and no elevator. We are used to walking and stairs, but others might not be; I mention it so future guests are not surprised. Another unexpected find was a pair of earplugs placed thoughtfully at each bedside table. We understood this later, when a nearby group of restaurants had live music and singers. It was not too loud, though, and they stopped around 11pm. Also, we had the windows open because the weather was so nice, so of course it would have been quieter if we'd closed them. In any case, it wasn't a bother for us who are used to living in a city with all of its sounds throughout the day and night.
Petek was a very considerate host, even though we never actually met her in person. She was very responsive via email, and though she was out of town the weekend we arrived, she arranged for a friend to meet us. Later during the stay, she checked in via text to make sure all was OK. In the flat, she provided a laminated booklet that outlined how to work all the appliances and where to find the nearest grocery, etc. Very helpful!
Petek and Marco were lovely and respectful guest. I certainly recommended them as guest.
Really enjoyed getting to know Petek while in Istanbul! She's very welcoming and always happy to lend a hand or give a suggestion. I'd definitely recommend benefiting from her hospitality while you're in Istanbul!
Petek is warm, friendly, hospitable and has a great sense of fun. A delight to spend time with and a wonderful person to get to know. She is quite simply the bees knees!
if you are a traveler on the road of life, you will love the "room with a view" experience while in turkey. after a week in a hotel and amongst the tourists of sultanamet, i walked across the bridge and into another realm—the "room with a view" experience: the real istanbul, the neighborhood grocer, the cafe around the corner, the laundry on the balconies, the local video store, the yoga place. cihangir. (you'll even learn the correct pronunciation if you stay a few days in its heart, where you will find, petek's place.) i lived there for 4 weeks (dec 2009 - jan 2010) and instantly felt at home. comfortable. stylish. affordable. accommodating. these words fit both petek and her place but don't capture the extraordinary memories i have from my time there. when asked about my 'favorite' part of turkey, i think of standing on the balcony and seeing the lights on the mosques at night and the snow covered roofs and the warmth of home far from home. that is turkey for me. teşekkür ederim, petek!
