Doug and I are getting Married in July 2013! We both love meeting new people from all over the world and are looking forward to getting this homestay back up and running after we have had a couple of months together.
My previous profile description: (before Doug came into my life - we will write a new one once all the wedding excitement is behind us)
I am a friendly primary school teacher in my thirties who has travelled and lived overseas but is now back home to put down some roots. Problem is I still have the travel bug... so I figure the best thing to do is keep in touch with travelers by providing them with a lovely home to stay in and help with finding their way around, understanding NZ culture, and of course enjoying great NZ food! I LOVE cooking and hosting and make delicious meals and home baking, I can even make almost anything gluten free (including sweet cinnamon pastry I learnt how to make while in Denmark!) and I happily share all my recipes.
When I was traveling, I met many lovely people who went out of their way to help me out, so its time to pay it forward. I am not doing this to make a profit, proceeds from this venture make it possible for me to afford the rent for my amazing home in the hills! I always dreamed of owning a bed and breakfast and thought why wait until I'm old and wrinkly and have enough money to buy one!! I'm doing this now while I'm young, free and full of fun and energy. Its my way of staying in touch with the world - to learn more about other cultures and keep myself from buying a plane ticket to disappear off somewhere again! (however I'm finding that meeting all these fantastic people from wonderful places is just making the travel bug grow not lessen!! Oh no! lol.)
Heres some of the lovely things my guests have written about me in my visitors book at home (ahh shucks guys - thanks :) )
