Mark is a super sweet and respectful gentleman. Hosted him for a week when he was in NYC getting his feet on the ground.. had no problems whatsoever and would DEFINITELY host again. Wish I would have had a little more time to spend getting to know him...you'll enjoy having him at your place!
Without sounding over the top enthusiastic, I feel like I have to say this as loud and clear as it possble goes in writing. Mark Ellison is probably the best flat mate in the world! What can I say, I'm biast, I love the guy. Here is why:
1) He is laid back, loves a laugh and takes life with just the right amount of sweet and sour.
2) On the weekend he enjoys the long good breakfast with the paper and passionate discussions about the world and what is happening in the Middle East. I feel more educated thanks to Mark!
3) He is an awesome guitarr player
4) Most importantly, he always gave me a hug if I was sad or knew just how to cheer me up.
Mark and I lived together for a total of one year. He is a reliable person and a wonderful friend. Anyone who gets to know him, or even better live with him, should consider themselves lucky!
I barely knew Mark when I sublet a room from him for 7 months in 2008. Because of that experience Mark is one of my closest friends. Living together went so well that this year I let him stay with me in my studio apartment for a few weeks when he got back from Syria. Mark is friendly, flexible, responsible and conscientious. He also knows how and when to be unobtrusive - a must in a roommate. He understands the concept of respecting people's personal space and time, but if you're interested in a friend he's great fun and super loyal. And if you're really lucky he can probably be persuaded to cook for you!
I've known Mark for almost six years and have lived and traveled with him for almost five. And I can say that he's an excellent person to live and travel with. Mark is a very considerate room-mate, always ready to cook, clean and do the shopping. He never complains, is very easy-going and gets along with almost anyone (I don't know how he does it, personally.) He's also super handy to have around if any electronics decide to break or your internet is going crazy.
I first met Mark during my M.A. degree and he quickly became part of a core group of friends. We've all traveled together throughout Europe and the Middle East and everyone would agree that Mark is a person you'd want to have on your adventures: generous, cool under pressure, organized and most importantly, really fun and open-minded.
