I'm originally from Germany but have been living in London for over 40 years. I'm a retired architect and do pottery. I like the arts and always go to cinema, theatre and exhibitions.

Helen was a great host, relaxed, easygoing and interesting to talk to. I had the sense that nothing would be too much trouble. Her house is charming and packed with character. It is in a lovely location that felt safe with good bus, tube and train links. Breakfast was laid out every day & Helen, despite being quite unwell usually came to have a cup of tea & a chat over breakfast. I can happily recommend staying here.
Helen is a very relaxed and charming host. Her house is in a beautiful road of Georgian terraced houses in Islington, one of my favourite parts of London with easy access to the City and the West End. The room, at the top of the house, is very comfortable and the bathroom - including a bath - always a treat - is on the floor below. I enjoyed my 2 day visit and would like to stay at Helen's again.
Helen was a perfect hostess. When I arrived she greeted me warmly, made me a cup of tea, and there was piano music floating through the house (which turned to light jazz later in my stay). She provided maps and information about the area as well as recommendations. There was light breakfast available, and she was okay with me borrowing utensils and dishes to make my own. I had my own key and could come and go as I pleased, and I enjoyed chatting with Helen when our paths crossed.
The room itself is cozy and charming, small with lots of light. It can get cold but there's a space heater provided that warms it up quickly -- this is key for me because I get cold easily! Islington is a lovely neighbourhood, safe enough to walk in at night, and there are plenty of options for going out nearby. Two Tube stations nearby (Angel, and Highbury/Islington) made it easy to get around, and Regent's Canal nearby is a great place to run.
Helen is a wonderful and helpful hostess with a great knowledge of Islington. The room is cosy and quiet and very close to the tube and Upper Street. Thank you so much, Helen.
My second stay at Helen's lovely house was as wonderful as the first one – with the added bonus that I knew what I was looking forward to: A wonderfully unfussy and helpful hostess (who provides great breakfast and conversation), the most cosy room, a quiet neighbourhood and convenient location for public transport (4mis walk to Highbury & Islington Tube station). All in all: Perfect, again. Thanks ever so much, Helen!
I had to change my plans on the day and wasn't able to stay. I appreciate Helen's acceptance of my request at short notice and hope I will be able to stay there another time.
Helen's home was incredibly cozy, well-kept, and very conveniently located. It was a perfect spot from which to explore London. What a charming home! Helen was an absolutely welcoming host and was easy to communicate and coordinate with. Thank you for such a great stay.
Helen was a wonderful host and I am sure I will go back and stay with her again. The room is just as its on the photo, warm and cosy, but not small. The house is warm and bright in a quiet area, not to far from the tube. All in all, could have wished for a nicer stay. Thanks Helen.
Helen's house is a beautiful place in my favourite area in London. My dad stayed there for two days and he enjoyed the atmosphere and the talks with Helen. She is an excellent source for cultural sights in London as well. Thank you!
I am extremely happy that I booked this room. Helen made me feel very welcome and it was a pleasure to talk to her in the evening or at breakfast. The house is a wonderful and charming building, and I felt very comfortable and very much at home in "my" room. I would love to come back some day for another stay.
