We had such a lovely stay here and the place is so nicely done - cosy and stylish. It's the perfect size for a getaway for two and ideally located in the chocolate box village just a few doors down from a lovely pub that does great food. I thoroughly recommend for others to stay at The Engine Room, and I imagine we'll be back in future too!
Always welcome back if you are in the area
We had a lovely time at this cottage. Sharon was a great host and gave us all the information we needed. The abbey is well worth visiting. The pub in the village serves nice food in a comfortable surround. There is wifi @ the cottage & the pub but be prepared for no mobile phone coverage :)).
Lovely to have you both stay .Always welcome back .
A wonderful little retreat for a couple. Good walks and interesting sight sneery and a great base for exploring south Dorset and that stretch of coast. We were welcomed by the host and (it seemed) everyone in the village.
Me and my boyfriend made a very last minute plan to go down to Dorset for the weekend from London. We only found the Engineroom had availability as we were on the motorway and Sharon was immediately once incredibly helpful and friendly. We had some difficultly processing our payment too and Sharon was really helpful and understanding- she contacted air bnb for us and made sure it was all sorted. When we got to the engine room later that night it was exactly what we were after. In the most beautifully picturesque village and tuned out with lots of care and attention to detail. Unfortunately we could only stay for one night but would love to go back again. It's a real gem.
Thanks for such a lovely review Jess! Glad you liked it!
What a beautiful find! We loved our stay in the Engine room and were sad to have only spent the weekend. It provided us with a perfect escape from the city and an excellent base for exploring the coast. The village of Milton Abbas is peaceful and quaint, and local pub has amazing food. The engine room itself is cosy and wonderfully decorated, with a kitchen and coffee machine! It has its own sunny private courtyard, which was a perfect setting for breakfast. We have already recommended our stay here to many of our friends and will continue to do so! Thanks Sharon for a very relaxing and memorable stay.
The location is amazing. Quiet, beautiful and somewhat surreal, it's as if you've walked into a painting. Then the place itself is so cozy. The Engine Room looks 3 times bigger than the outside (when inside), and has been beautifully crafted to give you everything you need for a short stay away. So much care and thought has been put into making the place cosy and relaxing, especially after a day on the beach or walking down the cliffs. Sharon was always on hand if required, and provided us with complimentary milk, bread and butter on arrival. Don't forget to have a meal at the local pub - you'll be impressed with the quality of the food!
Such a great place to stay, really loved the village, location and all top quality. A place I would recommend to anyone to stay.
Great for a nice quiet, simple weekend away. Set in a lovely village with plenty to do in the surrounding area. Everything you need for a relaxing weekend, comfortable and homely. Highly recommend the village pub.
My boyfriend and I had a fantastic stay at Sharon's at Milton Abbas. The little cottage/outhouse we stayed in is wonderfully homely and had everything we needed. Very comfy bed, lovely fresh linen, brilliant rain shower, good wifi and even a fresh loaf of bread.
The village itself is extremely pretty. Milton Abbey is a short walk away and the local pub is just a stones thrown from the house. We drove to the nearby Lulworth Cove as well as Weymouth and Dorchester, and were delighted to be able to escape the tourists and countless B and Bs when we drove back to Sharon's. There we enjoyed a glass of wine out on the little terrace in perfectly quiet, starry, serene surroundings.
Would definitely recommend and it was the perfect two day break from London.
Myself and my friend David really enjoyed our stay in Milton Abbas. The engine room was a great space and in a really nice setting. Would happily go back and certainly recommend it!
