I like to travel a lot and love meeting people from around the world.
I think nyc is the best place in the world.
I really love music, especially indie. My favorite bands now are the Wombats, Ed sheeran, and Lana Del Ray.
I'd recommend an eye mask to block out the light from the giant sign outside the window and ear plugs to drown out the sounds and noises of NY. If that kind of stuff does not bother you... You'll be fine. There is a window shade in the bedroom that does block 85% of the sign, but its still super bright in the day or night.
Jeany is a nice host helpful and accommodating. The room is big and bed is comfortable. It was clean, with a heater too.
Right in the middle of Times Square. And Good Morning America is taped steps from your Apartment. Everything is close walking in Midtown or train ride away. Easy to get to from airport. Take M60 to Astoria station and train in to Times Square on N or Q train for under $3. Takes about 1 hour.
The apartment: very very close to Times Square, amazing location. However, the apartment is not very clean, so clean freaks beware. Bedroom with bed only, apartment is pretty cold (but there is a heater), bathroom was freezing cold and quite dirty. It's quite bright in the room at night due to the neon lights outside.
The host: we were only able to check in at 5 pm, which was a bit of a hassle for us. Jeany was kind and welcoming. She offered us drinks as soon as we arrived and let us use her kitchen. She was helpful with NY hot spots and gave us information about the metro and shopping. She even gave us discount coupons for drinks at a bar. However, when we arrived, the bed still was not done (nor was it made until 9:30pm that evening). Furthermore, on the second day, when we came back to the room to grab a few things, we found our host sleeping in our bed, which was kind of weird and made things awkward.
All in all, convenient place to stay in the heart of Times Square if you are only looking for a bed to sleep in. It's good for people travelling on a budget (like students), but you have to lower your expectations/standards/comfort levels.
The best with this apartment is the localisation it´s in Time square and you have diferents subways. Jeany is very Nice, she ofers us pizza cake and tea. The apartment is not Iixurious but for those who want only sleep and possibly eat it very (website hidden) I recomande a lot this place to stay in N Y
So... I arrived at 2pm (couple of hours before check in, but Jeany knew about this). I had a warm welcome into the flat and was offered tea & biscuits although I think she had just woken up. Reasons to follow:
I was shown to the bedroom and taken aback to find the bed somewhat disheveled. The sheets and duvet were all messed up and there was a mobile phone on the mattress.
I gave Jeany the benefit of the doubt, as she appeared a little below par suffering with a cold. When I asked if they were clean sheets, Jeany replied "oh, yes they are, but I had a quick nap in them prior to your arrival."
The comical thing is that she offered to change the sheets, which made me feel awkward and I replied, “don’t worry”. However, in the evening prior to getting into bed I was surprised to find the bed sheets weren’t as clean as one would expect in Europe so changed them myself with some clean sheets I found in a drawer.
The bathroom was freezing cold, with dirty mats and full bins. Although I didn’t use the kitchen it appeared clean. The living room was dusty and could have done with a vacuum. Bedroom was bright during the night but ok if you had an eye mask on and the electric heater in the room made it bearable when the weather was really cold in February.
On our last evening in the flat I was talking on the phone and noticed a mouse under the television – dead!!!! Not quite sure how long it had been there or how it got there but nonetheless it was a furry rodent. (I noticed a sign on the stairwell saying that there had been exterminators in the restaurant below so this was probably the cause)
Location was terrific and for the price I felt I couldn't grumble... However, I feel that whatever price you pay, you do expect a clean bed and no vermin.
Sorry for what seems to be a harsh but true review.
The reservation was canceled 2 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
I need to start this review by saying that this is not a 4 star hotel. But you won't find a better location for this price. Literally 100m from Times Square. A slow walk will take you 1 minute to get there.
The room is tiny, but neat and clean. The sheets were washed upon our arrival. The bathroom is small but functional, although it doesn't have heating (only a problem in winter)
Virgil's Bar is downstairs, so there's a lot of light and some noise coming from outside, but this is New York. Light and sound seems to be the main export. We got by, using earplugs and eye-covers. You won't want to sleep too much, anyways.
Make sure you check your arrival time with Jean (the owner) before you get to NYC. We were stuck outside for a few hours because of this
If all you want from your NYC accommodation is a place to sleep and shower, then this is perfect. You can't beat the price and location
If you want the hotel experience, there's one across the street.
Could not have been a better location. We had a wonderful stay at J's place. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Clean room and bath.
If you are looking to stay smack dap in the middle of time square ( literally just outside ) at a bargain price. This place is for you...
This place would best be suited for a couple or a single traveler like myself.
The bathroom was a little tight but I am 6 foot 250...
Jean the host was very nice. She offered me warm tea and even a umbrella to use when it started to snow.
Very affordable for a super convenient location, steps away from Times Square and the subway. It was great to be so close to shops and restaurants.
The apartment was clean and Jeany was nice enough to stay and meet us for our check-in despite it being later than scheduled.
Very nice guest
Hi. Yes she seemed a nice enough lady. Slept a lot but this was not a problem as i did have to mill around before x mas rush. I did not get to chat really she came in and left very quickly
Jeanie and her family were ideal guests. She communicated very well before coming to Paris, even called me once and gave a very honest and kind picture of herself. I had to be out of town when they arrived so they met my best friend instead. Jeanie was totally ok with this arrangement which was so nice. Everything went very smoothly and the apartment was in really good condition after their visit. I can highly recommend them to other Airbnb guests.
Jeanie was great - very easy and reliable to deal with - and left the place in perfect condition.
Jeanie was a great guest - very clean and self-managed
Jeanie and her friend Annele were very nice young people, and they were very neat...
Jeany was a last minute guest but was really great about communicating to us about arrival and what she needed from us. It was nice to meet someone else who also hosts, I wish I could have heard more crazy NYC stories! I do miss living in nyc, but we get so many people who travel from NYC to visit, I can basically live vicariously through them! We were happy to host and met Jeany.
I really enjoyed having Jeany as a guest and I think she enjoyed her visit here as well.....She did not arrive until 1 a.m. after spending a long day with friends of hers, and then we chatted about mutual interests until after 2 a.m. Lucky for her, the weather next day was splendid so she had time to enjoy walking around the tourist area, and later came back for a nap before attending a concert and making the long trip by bus to NY.
Jeany is very friendly, easy to please, and just generally a nice person.
I recommend her highly for other hosts.
Jean is funny, lively and smart. She was hesitant about airbnb at first, but gave it a try anyway. I think I might have even convinced her to rent out her Time Square apartment. Anyway, Jean is a great guest... thoughtful and respectful.
