We have rented through airbnb and other websites many times and have always found the customer reviews very helpful. That is the reason why I am writing this feedback to highlight some key facts about this property. This information is based on a two night stay that we just completed:
•The unit is like a smallish hotel room. It has a small fridge but does not have a microwave. The microwave we were told to use is in some location in the adjacent building.
•Unlike most hotels, it does not have WiFi in the room – only in the common lounge in the next building. It also does not include daily room cleaning service as most hotels do. One has to pay $55 at check in as a one-time cleaning fee plus a $50 registration fee for the stay. Any additional cleanings are $30 per instance. The host had clearly mentioned these fees to me prior to accepting our booking but I wanted to make sure I listed it in this review since this is pertinent information for any prospective renter
•While the unit is technically ocean view, the view of the ocean is a thin sliver from the balcony. The complex itself has also not made very good use of the fact that it is ocean front since you cannot see the ocean from the main lobby or many of the pool areas.
•The resort itself is a mid-level resort, not a high-end one. The buildings have the look of a mid-tier apartment complex from the outside – yellow painted wood, as far as we could make out.
•While the room is in a resort, the hotel staff does not appear to take responsibility for many things. For example, we had a problem with the card keys for getting into our room and had to go to the front desk four times to get them reprogrammed over the period of two days. However, when we asked the hotel to fix the lock, they said that it was the owner’s responsibility and they would just pass on the message. Also, when I had some questions about the fees etc. at checkout, they told me that any questions had to be addressed to the owner, not to them.
Hope this review is helpful as you evaluate this location as an option for your vacation.
Quick response times. Listing as described. Hotel staff mostly helpful. A lot of disruptive tourists at this resort. People in their underwear or drinking or let their kids play in adults only hot tub, hawaiian staff laid back and non confrontational. Guests are what prevent the resort from being relaxing and quiet. The room is on the quiet side they do make you pay 17 a day parking. Internet free, restaurant awful but at this price and if you will be out exploring the island every day as most do, I recommend dales place. Lastly doors and locks noisy and slam all down hall and lanai door lock broken probably from past guests so fiddle with it and room ac will start to work.
We had a great time. Kauia Beach Resort is a wonderful property with all the amenities of a large resort, without the crowds. The $17 parking fee is unfortunate, but overall, this resort is an amazing value.
Excellent resort, fabulous room, wonderful island
We just returned from 10 nights at this beautiful resort. Dale answered all our questions quickly and honestly so we had no surprises. The mini fridge was very helpful. Would have been nice to have internet included in the room price. Pools and restaurants were great. Loved walking along Lydgate beach for miles. Central location to access the whole island. Would definitely return! Thanks
This is a great place! Dale is great about communication and the condo and property area amazing for the price.
My only complaint would be with the description of ocean view. The condo is only ocean view if you are standing in the corner of the room looking to the left, otherwise it's not.
I would definitely rent this place again. You don't need to see the ocean when you are in Hawaii because you should be sitting on it no watching it from a room. Definitely rent this place again.
Dale was quick to respond and check-in was easy. The resort is very nice and has a great pool area. The unit is not really an apartment but more a hotel room - you cannot cook any food. But other then that it was a really nice place. Keep in mind that parking is $22 per day. We parked at the big dirt parking lot next to the hotel, which we didn't pay because they did see us parking there. Might work for you too.
Excellent location. Great resort with perfect service. Enjoyed every minutes. Dale was helpful.
Description was short, simple and to the point. The process was like checking in at a hotel. The resort is minutes from the airport. Well maintained property with nice ammenities. We used the pool, the beach in front of the resort, and the fitness facility. All were well maintained. The drive into the community is stunning. The apartment is a nice well maintained studio apartment with a view of the side of the resort, with the ocean in the distance.
The room was exactly as described, nice, clean with a nice view from the balcony. The resort is super conveniently located close to the airport, as well as the East and South side. The only downside is that the food at the resort is less than stellar; also, watch out for all the extra fees that the resort charges you (internet access is $10 a day, check-in and check-out room cleaning fees as well as fees if you want the room cleaned while you're there.) The people at the resort are super helpful and very nice, then gym is great, the hot tub and pools pretty sweet.
As for Dale, we never had to contact him because everything was perfect. Thanks Dale!
