Ed and Rich were Great Guests. They were fun, friendly, clean and charismatic. It was truly our pleasure to host them during their visit to the Puna District on the Big Island of Hawaii. Ed had a stress fracture in his foot but still managed to get the most out of his Hawaiian vacation. They visited Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, home to Kilauea; the world’s most active volcano. There are no active lava flows currently visible from inside the national park so they took a boat tour the following day to see lava flowing into the ocean. They told us it was awesome and the tour guide even scooped up some ocean water near the lava flow which was very warm. They also drove around the Kalapana area just a few miles from the lava flow out of Pu’u O’o Crater three miles away. When they checked out, they were heading toward Ahalanui Park, otherwise known as Warm Pond (a geothermally heated tide pool with lots of pretty tropical fish) near the boat dock where they departed for their ocean lava adventure. We very much enjoyed Ed and Rich’s company and hope to host them when they return to Hawaii. Thanks, Ed and Rich, we look forward to seeing you again.
