This was an oasis of calm in a hectic city. The room was pretty, spacious and quiet, with good light. Breakfast in the garden, visiting with other guests, getting help from Mario when needed, eating in excellent local restaurants--all good! The immediate neighborhood is lively and interesting with lots of little antique shops, cafés, etc.
Dear Anna, dear Mario,
it was a wonderful beginning to start our journey in Campagnia at your place in the wonderful special district of Sanitá in Naples.
We were a bit excited when we arrived in that original and realistic city.
Your beautiful, beautiful garden, warm and smiling welcome and cosy accomodation instantly gave us the warm feeling of wanting to stay longer.
We were allowed to cook in the kitchen in the garden when it was a warm evening and inside when it became chilly. The house is charming, beautifully renovated and furnished by Mario and Anna themselves and has millions of nice corners to sit and read and relax, such is the garden which was turned from a disastrous mess into a beautiful paradise...
Mario showed us the best places to walk "in giro" in the city on the map.
He also advised us how to behave normally when walking the city, not to get robbed or (website hidden)...
And we must say - we felt absolutely save and sound.
After a long day exploring this beautiful vivid city and all the things to see there (above and beneath the ground), because it is so full of culture and life, we were lucky to come "home" to our secret garden.
The house-keeping was super tidy and comforty and the rooms were made when we got back. We were allowed to walk through some private rooms of the family, too, and everyone was nice and approachable.
The house is well prepared for guests with brochures and maps and things.
The garden is only for guests and family and a oasis of peace and quiet, behind the noisy fassade of a typical Italian street house.
We will definitely come back!! We haven't seen enough of the city yet.
Grazie Anna, Mario and Chiara...
Christian and Nicole
We couldn't be more happy that we chose to stay with Mario and Anna. When we arrived Mario was soooo friendly and provided us with all the information we could need to enjoy Naples... Including a map on which he highlighted the popular roads and things to see. We were also able to use any of the many guide books which Mario and Anna have available for their guests. Our room was very large, clean and comfortable and we had access to a kitchen which was fantastic. The morning of our checkout we sat with Anna and her son in the beautiful garden and talked for more than a hour about Naples, Italy in General and Anna's lovely family. She even set us up (email hidden) who picked us up at our B&B in Sorrento and took us to Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius. Trust me... If you stay with Anna and Mario ask her for this same tour information. It is a great deal for the price and we had an amazing day with Paolo! Thank you Mario and Anna for making us feel so at home in Naples. We loved every minute we spent with you!!!
Il Gardino Segreto is a wonderful place to enjoy the heart of Napels. This B&B offers a lot of quality for people who are longing for authenticity and genuine comfort. We experienced an environment that is created with passion. The outdoor kitchen is a nice addition, although an upgrade would increase the fun.
Our hosts offered a welcoming atmosphere and were very helpful in finding our way and solving our small problems. Sincere compliments to them and their unsurpassed paradise.
We felt instantly welcomed. Our family of four had a lovely stay in one of Mario and Anna's lovely rooms. The photocopied map they provided was most helpful and the breakfast in the garden was a great way to start the day. They also have lots of reference books and tourist information pamphlets about the sights of Naples. They accommodated our need for an early breakfast on a tour day. The train terminal is a bit of walk but easily managed by our 9 and 12 year olds. There are restaurants and little shops on the same street. There is a basic kitchen area and we prepared a simple meal of our own one night. We had a small fridge in our room to keep snacks in. This is a great base for planning a trip to Pompeii or Herculaneum. It is not as glamorous as Rome but we are so glad we did not leave Naples off the itinerary. Follow the common sense rules for personal safety and you'll have a great time. We did.
We thank veru much our charming hosts Anna and Mario for the kind attention all along our stay in Naples. Our room , large and well protected against the noises of the city, was very confortable and it was a pleasure to get breakfast in the middle of their wonderful and secret garden with nice trees and flowers which they have arranged with love behind their appartement. We were very near of the historical center of the city and our only regrets were not to be able to stay longer in such a nice place. Tahnk you Anna and Mario !
I am really sorry I wasn't able to welcome you myself. Mario and family where the perfect guests. Great communication beforehand, clean, they even fed the fish! :)
I highly recommend them.
Mario and his four friends are super guests. They are all energetic, full of humor and pleasant talkers! They left the studio and room clean and organized. Too bad they only stayed 1 night with us. But we understand it, Belgium has many abbeys with good beer... to visit and to taste everything takes time. So,we really hope that you have enjoyed your monastery and trappist beer tour.
See you soon in Il giardino segreto, Napoli ;)
