We had a lovely welcome and introduction to the house. It's situated in the heart of San Telmo and really easy to find bars, the Sunday market and shops. Definitely try (email hidden) on the corner: excellent. A very smooth and easy experience. Thanks.
John made me feel very welcome indeed. He was helpful about anything I needed to know about the apartment but also about BA. His representative Gra, who looked after the apartment and let me in was also charming. It was a pleasure meeting her. There was water in the fridge and wine on the table and a box of Mata - also salt pepper oil etc all the essentials. it was very welcoming. there is a bakery across the road, a greengrocer on the next corner and a supermarket five minutes away and lots of cafes. The road is quiet and the entrance to the apartments is through quite a grand door. inside a narrow hall with lots and lots of plants -and a kitten- leads to the door of the apartment.
The apartment is spacious and homely it has several little balconies, one ŵith a barbecue. i was amazed to find that it had a bath with a jacussi and a bidet. To be honest although the apartment itself was spacious, clean and homely it was quite dated but . that didn't bother me. i had all that space for the same price as I paid for a hotel room round the corner the week before. I would suggest though that the bedroom could do with a little more decoration and another bedside lamp.
it was very well equipped.there was even a yoga mat. The only thing missing was an iron and a hairdryer and a washing machine A though I didn't actually need any of these things to be fair. The kitchen had everything I wanted even a food mixer. The cooker is very old and the numbers have worn off the dials. keep the dial pressed down for a long time when lighting the oven and blowing to encourage the flame to spread helps too.
The famous San Telmo market is literally round the corner and La Boca is about 20 minutes walk. There is an art gallery on the way too. the centre -plaza de Armas and casa rosada and all that are about 20 mintutes away in the other dirctiom. Public transport is good but confusing. taxis are much cheaper than in most cities There is a small lanuage school in Chacabuco two blodks away. i had a week of private conversation lessons there and enjoyed them.
So yes. I would recommend this apartment and if there is anything you need I'm certain that John and Gra will provide you with it if they can. Buen Viaje.
The apartment is very spacious and great to relax in. It is near so many restaurants and cafes, two blocks from the San Telmo Sunday Fair, and a short walk to the Subte. My husband and I stayed for three months and really enjoyed our time!
John is a really nice host. He provided a detailed and straight forward manual to help me familirize with the house. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. It also has a great backyard. The description was accurate. The neighborhood is quite and beautiful. I had a very pleasant stay at John's house.
Summary: Recommended. A no-frills apartment in a great location at a good price makes this apartment an easy recommendation for your stay in Buenos Aires.
My stay at Casa Martirano was excellent. Its location in San Telmo is great, and the cobblestone streets of the neighborhood right outside the apartment lent a great air to my stay in Buenos Aires.
Most of the coordination for staying in the apartment was done through John's housekeeper, Graciela. She was incredibly warm and welcoming to my party. She met us at the door when we arrived, gave us local recommendations, helped us exchange money, and went above-and-beyond by helping us with our laundry (there is no in-unit laundry).
The apartment itself is nice, if not a bit spartan. Most of the furnishings seemed to be selected for a rental, and not an apartment that is actively lived in. But everything is in good working condition, and has more charm than any hotel you'll find.
John was very courteous and interesting to talk to. He is welcome back anytime.
John was a perfect guest. Although we did not meet him personally he was very friendly over the phone. left everything in good shape.
John is a really wonderful guest. He communicated all his needs well and took great care of the apartment, leaving it in excellent shape. Thanks John
John stayed with us for just over a week at The Garden Studio in San Francisco. He was a great guest. He rents out apartments himslef and so certainly knows how to treat a place. He kept our place clean and tidy and was very amenable to us showing the place to future/prospective renters while he was here.
Also- great communication about arrival/check-out times etc. We'd certainly rent to him again.
I've known John for over 5 years, and have only great things to say! He is an incredible salsa dancer and thai massage therapist, and overall a very kind, funny, and friendly person. Knowledgable about world travel and wine!
John is fun to be around, easy-going, and has always been a wonderful host at his home in Champaign! You will find a very tidy and beautifully decorated house with a spacious backyard! His home is located on a quiet residential street, within walking distance of downtown Champaign where nice cafes, restaurants, and bars are available!
I have known John from many years, and hosted him in Chicago several times while traveling. Always glad to do so. John is very kind, brilliantly educated, well-traveled, amenable, with a positive outlook on life, and has an easy-going demeanor that makes him easy to be around. Great guest. :)
John es un buen chico, responsable y serio en sus actividades.
Confio en él en terminos generales.
