We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at El Rito and the surrounding area. Thank you!
We had a wonderful experience at the Vineyard Gatehouse. We stayed 6 weeks and loved it. Wendy is an excellent host and the property is very recently renovated, almost everything is brand new. Access to Glen Ellen and the rest of Sonoma Valley is easy. We will definitely stay here again. Only downside is the wi-fi service which is great at times, but also can be slow at times.
Our group of six had a wonderful vacation in Sonoma over Memorial Day weekend 2013. The Westerbeke's home provided plenty of space- both indoors and outdoors- for our group, and Wendy could not have been a more gracious host. She recommended local restaurants and wineries, and would periodically check in with us via text to make sure we were enjoying our stay.
La Casa Grande is absolutely stunning. It is beautifully situated, spacious, welcoming, and full of vibrant art. The views from the patio are beautiful and we had the extra bonus of having a grey fox with five tiny kits to entertain us as we sat there. Being close to Sonoma was very helpful in facilitating our plans. Wendy was very accommodating of our rather difficult logistical arrangements (we had parties coming from 3 different and disparate locations with different arrival times) and every attempt was made to ensure that we were welcome and that our stay went smoothly. The rooms were spacious and well laid out; the beds were very comfortable; and the bathrooms were great. We were all thrilled with the rental and would recommend it highly. We hope to return before too long.
The casita was just what we needed!!! Wendy was welcoming and informative. We visited all the wineries and sites she recommended without deceptions. The casita rests on a magical site, amid flowers, wildlife, and valley views. It is also conveniently located only a few minutes away from Sonoma. I will stay here again in the future. Thanks Wendy :)
Very nice and quiet place if you need a place to sleep or like me, you're just in town to ride (bike event) and need a shower and rest for the next day.
We were a group of 6 people, some from the San Francisco Bay area, some from Europe. The house is really really spacious and can probably fit more than 6. It has everything you need and if you think about something you are missing, great hosts will bring it to you shortly after contacting them. Great views, great location, definitely recommended, especially for good size group.
We came from NC for a week's stay at the lovely El Rito Retreat on the occasion of my wife and her twin sister's 60th birthdays and had a marvelous experience. We were entirely pleased with our experience, with the house, the beautiful environs (Carson National Forest is right out the back yard!). Wendy (Wendell) and Ted were super helpful hosts, always responding quickly and with detailed and thoughtful answers and advice. There is so much natural beauty at the home and in the surrounding area. We did awesome hikes each day either from the house or in the surrounding countryside (don't miss Georgia O'Keefe home tour, Ghost Ranch tour (do the Chimney hike), White Cliffs (near Abiquiui, where the climb up a slot canyon to the top of the cliffs and a mesa was exhilarating, tour of cliff dwelling at Puye, et al.). Then come home and view the starry black sky from the hot tub! I'd be glad to come back to El Rito again (again, loved the house and how it was furnished--for example, plenty of towels, a kitchen with all the equipment needed to prepare meals, lovely art work, books, etc.).
We are two families with small children who were looking for a getaway from our day to day in Berkeley. Casa Grande was perfect for us! Just a short drive to this beautiful house tucked on a hillside covered with oak trees. The spacious house is filled with beautiful colored textiles making it cozy and welcoming. Just off the living areas is an extensive patio perfect to lounge with morning tea or bask in the afternoon sun. Our hosts were very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. In fact their graciousness extended beyond the grounds of the house, we bumped into them while out and about in Sonoma and they were friendly and helpful guiding us to a nearby winery. All in all we were very happy and felt rejuvinated after a long weekend at La Casa Grande.
My wife and I sought an idyllic and isolated retreat during the holiday season to get away from the breakneck pace of fully-connected life, and El Rito Retreat was the perfect place to do so. It was paradise in late December - there was a good 12-18" of snow on the ground when we arrived, and the adobe house was well-appointed and charming beyond belief. Boasting four beds in rooms that can serve multiple purposes (two upstairs and two downstairs), with a wood stove in the kitchen and a gas heater in the living room, El Rito Retreat was a wonderful source of tranquility and comfort. The rustic New Mexican experience is well worth having, and with ample heat sources abounding throughout the house, there was no need to sacrifice comfort. We highly recommend this to anyone seeking a romantic and unforgettably enchanting "home away from home" in breathlessly beautiful northern New Mexico.
Wendy was a great guest - it is always nice to host other Airbnb hosts - they know what is involved on our side of the process and are sensitive to the work involved. VEry communicative and they left the Nest in great shape. We would not hesitate to rent to them again.
Excellent guests, very communicative, welcome back anytime.
