I loved my stay here and will be coming back. Here is a place of refreshing calm and tranquility where you can pause and recuperate from the daily stress of modern life. The views of the Umbrian countryside with olive groves and small farms relax you and allow you to recover your peace of mind. In our modern world these unencumbered sights are becoming more rare. No one is trying to sell you anything through billboards or visually noisy advertising! And you don't have to turn on the tv or radio. I never did my entire time here and I am the better for it.
The air is fresh and pure, the organic materials of the buildings - floors and walls of stone and terracotta bricks, doors and shutters of wood impart a feeling of health and of being nurtured and protected. My bed was incredibly comfortable with pure cotton sheets and blankets that I welcomed bedtime with an inward smile every night. There are no sounds of traffic or city and the true silence in the night hours or the birds (website hidden)ing in the daytime hours was very soothing.
This charming villa and her outlying buildings of the Bianchina and the Casale are wonderfully picturesque and have been restored with great attention to maintaining as much of the original detail as possible. And yet they have all the modern conveniences one needs to be comfortable. These are elegant, historical dwellings from the times when Italian counts governed the land from the hilltops. Even though elegant there is a kind of wildness about this place. The grounds are not so manicured as to be tame.
The staff are very attentive, responsive and agreeable yet dignified. The place is kept immaculately clean and the descriptions on the listing are accurate. Places like these are becoming so rare that I feel very privileged to have been able to live a week of my life here. Truly a unique and unforgettable experience.
I stayed in the Bianchina and had my own kitchen - gas oven and range- love it! The villa supplied me with olive oil from their groves and that was a truly a treat. I got to try the ripe olives right off the tree and something they call wild cherries which taste like a cross between cherries, raspberries and pears. There were still fragrant peach roses and gardenias blooming in November and the weather was mild.
To sum it up: AWESOME. Come here and be thrilled with the richness of Umbrian life. Stay here!
