The Birdhouse is accurate to the photos and pictures provided. Great location, walking distance to lots of bars and restaurants. If you're okay with simple digs - another reviewer said it's almost like camping; very true! - this will suit you just fine. As others have said, the bed is surprisingly comfortable. The space heater worked very well. I would definitely stay here again :)
Elizabeth was very welcoming to her home.
I was in Austin for a work conference and I felt right at home staying at Elizabeth's. She was very helpful and accommodating, especially when letting me drop off my things before the designated check in time -- which was very helpful. The room and everything else met my expectations. Overall it was a great fit for me. It was easy to get around places and seemed like a great neighborhood. I'd highly recommend!
My visit was very straightforward and loved how close her house was to everything I wanted to see. Would definitely stay here again.
I didn't have the chance to meet Elizabeth but found The Birdhouse easily and didn't have any trouble getting in. The neighbourhood was great and a lovely walk to downtown.
The bed was rather uncomfortable and taking showers wasn't very pleasant.
Having said that, the price for the location was good.
My wife and I stayed at Elizabeth's for 2 nights. The room was clean and very comfortable. We didn't get a chance to meet Elizabeth in person since we were in the house just to sleep and would head out early in the morning. Elizabeth gave us clear instructions about how to get into the house when she was away. The bathroom was clean as well. Overall we had a comfortable stay with no hassles. Would definitely stay at Elizabeth's again if we are in Austin.
The birdhouse is cute and accurately described. It's very small, but fine if you don't plan to hang out there much. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. Overall, I'd say that it felt like camping, but more comfortable. We were a bit disappointed with a few things: There was only about 1/4 of a roll of toilet paper in the place for us and no hand soap; the water pressure is very, very low; and the wi-fi was slow. (I should say -- we discovered the fixable issues very late at night, when it was too late to call Elizabeth and ask for help, and we have no reason to think she wouldn't have helped immediately if we called.) The entrance area was also flooded, so we got wet getting in and out. That's not likely to be a repeat problem (we were there during very heavy rainfalls -- unusual for Texas!), but having stepping stones or something else to avoid that would have been nice.
We crashed at Elizabeth's place our final night in Austin. The location was great- very close to all of the bars and restaurants on E 6th St. The guest room is small but perfectly fine if you are only looking for a place to sleep, and the option of having the trundle bed pulled out is very convenient.
I was in between apartments and this served its purpose - cheap accommodations on the east side.
Nice and cozy place.
Cool area with lots of good bars and eateries.
I had wonderful time Austin, and it started with this booking.
Great guests. Excellent AIRBnB'ers. Clear communication and a positive attitude. I am looking forward to watch the film you made. Welcome back another time.
Elizabeth was an easy, friendly guest. Elizabeth and her team used our house to film a video for a local non-profit. They were respectful of the space and left the house exactly as they found it. I would recommend Elizabeth as a guest.
We really enjoyed having Elisabeth as a guest. Our first Airbnb experience and it couldn't have been better!
Elizabeth and her friends left my house clean. I recommend her to stay at your house.
I stayed with Elizabeth in 2009 for three months while doing a residency and it was a great stay. Elizabeth and her husband James are excellent hosts - very easy to live with and perfect guides to Austin. There is a busing and vibrant artistic community around East Austin and their house is ideally situated in order to explore all that the region has to offer. If you are wondering, do not hesitate, just book it with them.
I've stayed with Elizabeth on several occasions, and I can't say enough positive things about this home and about Elizabeth. Elizabeth is a wonderful, reliable person and is very easy to coordinate with. This home is modern and roomy with plenty of space for entertaining, both inside and out. The large backyard has a gas grill and comfy deck chairs with a chiminea for those chilly hill country nights. The location couldn't be better. Only a few blocks from Lady Bird Lake and the jogging trail and a very short ride to downtown. The surrounding neighborhood has everything you need. Restaurants, bars, markets, yoga, jogging trails and more. If you're looking for a place near downtown Austin, this is the one!!!!
love staying with/traveling with Elizabeth & James! their house is close to EVERYthing in Austin - downtown, bike trails, good neighborhood. plus, they are really easy to get along with, very gracious and can show you all the best stuff about ATX!
I have stayed at this location multiple times. Elizabeth and James are great hosts in one of the richest cultural centers in Austin Texas. I had the opportunity to spend several nights here during SXSW 2011. They had bikes for me and my friends to use to ride to music venues and film screenings that are a mere 5 minutes from their place. BOOK IT NOW!!!!
