Hello there! My name is Ilan, I live in Chicago, Illinois, and I go to school at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I am in my final year of graduate school, so I will be graduating this May, and I am getting my Masters of Fine Arts in Printmedia. I love art, but traveling is my first and biggest passion. I want to go everywhere and see everything. I could never live without my passport, a jar of peanut butter, good coffee, beaches, good food and good company. I've traveled to around 30 countries or so and have spent the most amount of time in South East Asia when I lived and taught English in Thailand. I also have a special place in my heart for southern Portugal. One of my goals in life is to see all the wonders of the world, not just the 7 wonders, but the manmade wonders, the architectural wonders, the natural wonders, and wonder I can find. I love getting lost in my surroundings. I'm a huge fan of Jack Kerouac and love his thinking and writing in "On the Road," as well as Rebecca Solnit's "A Field Guide to Getting Lost." I love music, anywhere from electronic remixes and mashups to acoustic summer porch songs. I don't watch a ton of TV but am very into a select few shows... Shameless, Lost, Arrested Development, Breaking Bad, Seinfeld, and right now True Detective. I love trying new foods, Sushi is probably my favorite but I also love Indian and Mexican food. I like discovering new foods as much as I can, and it's one of my favorite things about going somewhere new. My style of traveling is very casual. I like wandering around without much of a plan and just enjoying new surroundings. I like meeting new people and seeing new places, and getting wrapped up in a new place with all it has to offer. But, I really enjoy my personal space at the end of the day. I like being able to wind down and get comfortable and a little peace and quiet is a great way to end a long and hectic day of traveling. If I had a life motto it would have to be... Feel Good Lost.
