I'm an Actor, Singer, Musical Theatre Performer, Improviser and Teacher of all those things. I'm a lyricist too, but I don't teach that, which really stuffs up the easy version of that first sentence!
Ok - I'm a sucker for templates, so I'm going to follow the one Airbnb provides. Of course it'll probably end up too long!
"Tell them about the things you like: What are 5 things you can’t live without?"
1. My phone... Typical Gen-Y I'm afraid. But I can't get over the fact that I'm holding a tiny box that is THE FUTURE, you know?
2. Books: Yeah. Yep. Since I was a kid, basically. I tried kindle. I broke it... and my heart.
3. The internet... lucky about that phone, right?!
4. My wardrobe. I'm a bit of a clothes horse.
Oh god... I just read this back... I sound awful. I'm not, I promise.
5. My improv team. Those guys are the best. Super supportive, funny as hell and my best friends.
Share your favourite travel destinations, books, movies, shows, music, food.
NYC, Venice (I've only ever been once, but it was incredible) and I had a BALL in the midwest in the OTHER Miami... Pronounced Miam-a. Mostly because of the wedding I was attending and the people I was with! If you haven't been to New Caledonia, it's magical.
Nightwatch by Terry Pratchet. It's fantasy... sort of. More like parody, but with pathos.
I don't have a favourite... I see LOTS. I'm a big fan of Pixar's output, but most people are I guess!
I'm riveted by House Of Cards and Game Of Thrones. I have a soft spot for a lot of long running single camera sit coms, and really enjoyed Friday Night Lights (except that arc in season 2, which was so out there).
I'm a music theatre performer so there's a chunk of that going on, but I really like pop music. This said, I'm easy to please and love new things! I shazam all the time- often in inappropriate situations.
When I travel I like to pick a fine dining restaurant to eat at! I can't always afford it at home, but I try to do one with each overseas trip. Last time was Eleven, next trip I'm hoping to go to Alinea in Chicago!
That, and sweeeeet things. I loved momofuku milk bar in NYC. Cereal milk - sounds so simple, but it's delicious.
Tell them what it’s like to have you as a guest or host:
As a guest I've used Airbnb just once as an extra on someone else's account. Now that I've used it, I don't want to go back to regular hotels! I really enjoyed the entire process. I like to think I'm clean, leave the place the way I found it, and easy to be around. I'm happy to hang out, but usually I'm trying to fill my days with as much as possible!
What’s your style of travelling?
I travel hard - as I said, I really like to fill each day with things! I particularly try and get to NYC as often as possible (nowhere near as much as I'd like) to get a hit of theatre and do workshops... that sort of thing.
My next trip is for 5 weeks in Chicago to further (email hidden) theatre. I'm then doing a few weeks with my girlfriend (who is a delight... and a pastry chef!) in NYC. I'm REALLY excited.
Tell them about you: Do you have a life motto?
I don't know about a life motto... I really enjoy teaching, and I think you have to care about people to do that, so that's certainly part of what makes me tick. Beyond that, have fun, take care of yourself and take care of others.
Now I sound sappy.
Well, I kinda am. :)
I feel like I was right about this ending up too long... Ah well!
