Descriptions are tough business aren't they? I'm Malaysian of mixed Chinese and Sarawak indigenous ancestry. Born and bred in Brunei, but I've spent the good part of the last 12 years here in Penang. Am a Penang-trained tour guide (not certified unfortunately, as I left for a travel job in Brunei after passing the exams but before getting certified!). More than 2 years' experience as a city and rainforest guide in Brunei, working closely with and being trained by descendants of the famed Iban headhunters on the ways of the rainforest.
Started on airbnb with a 2 room home stay when my girlfriend and I were still running our little cafe, Soohongry, out of a pre-war shophouse in the heart of George Town, Penang. Proud to have achieved Super Host status for a total of 6 months hosting, up until we had to move out due to soaring rental rates.
What else? Lover of life, as they say. I get very engrossed in nostalgic tales of others who long ago also lived in the homes, streets, cities or countries I've called home. Big fan of history, as well as culture and living, especially in comparisons of similarities and differences - did you have Bovril too? :)
Food, both enjoying it as well as preparing it. Good coffee, tea, wine, beers, etc etc.
Languages, dialects, patois, accents and word etymologies get me very excited too!
Music, nature (rainforests), gadgets, oh the list goes on!
