As a child, my family hosted foreign students who came to San Francisco to learn English. So I guess you could say that I was raised to welcome strangers to my dinner table.
My husband and I live in San Francisco, CA and The Netherlands. There is a Dutch word "Gezellig" which roughly translates to "Cozy." I like to think of it as the feeling you get when you walk in your front door. This easy comfort is how to best summarize how we travel and host--- renovated clean spaces, organized easy logistics, accessible conversation, and a dinner made with care to end the day. In our early 30s, my must-haves are a morning latte and sticky yoga matt, while he would be remise without his running shoes and Spotify. And of course, nothing makes us happier than the wagging of our dog's tail.
