We love New Orleans and this trip to New Orleans was most pleasant as usual. Staying at Amanda's made this vacation unique though since this was our first experience staying in a residential neighborhood in New Orleans, it was peaceful and quiet with an exception to the occasional sounds coming from the passing trains. Amanda and her companion were extremely helpful, and even gave us quick tours of the neighborhood. Most importantly they showed us where we could buy New Orleans TASTIEST treat: Boilled CRAWFISH!!! What we crave most from New Orleans is the crawfish. The area is filled with places to eat and drink, and there are also supermarkets nearby within walking distance, one in particular stays open 24 hours a day.
Had a great four days in New Orleans. The room was cool and quiet. Had a little problem with the internet (storm related) but it was up and running in no time. Water was nice and hot. The location was great; able to be in the French Quarters in less than ten minutes. Amanda proved information on clubs, food, bars in a nice little package. She provided towels even though I brought my own. The room looks just the picture except she also provided a television. I would recommend her accommodations (She has more than one) to anyone planning on visiting the Big Easy.
Stay with Amanda was great. The room is exactly what you can see in photos, cleaning, comfortable and silent.
Amanda and her room mates are very amazing and give us great tips about the city and help when we needed.
We had a great stay at Amanda's place. The room was comfortable and she was very accommodating. She provides a list of the
neighborhood restaurants and makes sure her guests are comfortable. Thanks Amanda!
Amanda and the rest of the girls were great. The room was quiet for the most part even with all of the construction going on around the area. The bathroom was clean and I didn't feel weirded out by using it. It was a little terrifying for me as a 39 year old professional to use this type of accomodation, but due to last minute travel and a major event happening in the area, this was the only choice I was left with. I was pleasantly surprised and would happily suggest that colleagues and other professionals consider this option. Privacy was great, the bedding and seating area provided for me was more than adequate and there was more than enough hanging space for my clothing. It was nice to have actual hangers!
I appreciated the access to the kitchen and especially the dining table during the day when everyone was gone to work. It provided me a comfortable place to work and handle the phone calls with clients that I had during my stay.
Overall, great place, great hosts and I'm one grateful lady to have found such a nice place to be.
A friend and I stayed at Amanda's for a week during our first visit to New Orleans, and she was really helpful and accommodating from beginning to end (with our questions, and especially with our 2am arrival!)! Both Amanda and her roommate Sophie and everyone we met at the house were friendly and really nice as well.
The room offered privacy and everything was quite clean. I did get woken up by the train a few times, but I didn't really mind it and like what a previous reviewer said it wasn't anything that can't be solved by just using some earplugs.
Catching the bus isn't too difficult, and once we got used to it, we loved that the location of the house allowed us to explore areas of the city on foot (like when walking back to the house from Frenchmen Street or kind of through Bywater to Crescent Park). I don't think we would've gotten the same experience if we had stayed right in the French Quarter, or so far out that we had to rely on public transit/cabbing it all the time.
Would definitely stay here again if we were to visit the city in the future!
The nicest people! My friend and I came down for Mardi Gras 2014 and had a great time. We enjoyed their welcoming and helpful hospitality, they recommend some great restaurants, bars, and cafes around. It's a walk from the French Quarter, but a pleasant one. Will definitely check back again whenever I go back!
Spending 2 weeks at Amanda's was awesome! They had a big list of eating places and heaps of suggestions for places to go and see. Always up to chats and we willing to take us out and around.
A really comfy room, and the biggest bath tub I've ever been in.
Thanks Amanda and Sophie!
Staying with Amanda and her super nice housemates was great! They live in an awesome location not too far walk from Bywater or the French quarter, and near a lot of cool bars and restaurants! The room was clean and well looked after and we had a lot of privacy! It was a perfect stay. Thanks Amanda :) we will be recommending you to friends!
We had a great stay in New Orleans. Amanda was very accommodating to our travel plans when winter storm Hercules caused flight cancellations and delays. It was in the 30s when we finally arrived---Amanda and Sophie provided us with a space heater and extra blankets to deal with the unusually chilly weather. She opened up her home to us and took extra steps to make us feel comfortable. The local area guide was especially thoughtful.
We preferred using a rental car because of the temperature (and we are lazy...), but the house is in a centralized location and accessible to the French Quarter and other areas by walking. The dogs were super adorable and friendly. My only suggestion to other travelers is to bring headphones or earplugs if you are a light sleeper because sometimes the train running behind the neighborhood can be noisy at night--but otherwise a very comfortable stay and highly recommended.
Amanda was very sweet and forgiving. Our a/c went out for about 10 hrs and she couldn't have been nicer. We gave her a fan and she was all set and happy. Thanks Amanda!
Amanda and her friends were great. They only stayed for one night so I did not get to interact with them as much as I would have liked. But Amanda and friends were so kind to extend an invitation to me for the Rugby Tournament they were attending in Houston. She was also extremely flexible with me since I had a meeting in Austin the same day they were arriving. Amanda and friends are awesome and I would not hesitate to host them again!
