We stayed four nights at Amanda's place, and overall, our experience was great. Amanda was always answering very quickly whenever we had a question/problem. Her place is very well located; close to the French quarter and in a very quiet area. The private room and bathroom were well appreciated because rare to find in NOLA. On a more negative note, I would point out the strong humid/musty smell in the room.
Amanda was great at communicating. Room was as described with a private entrance and bath. A perfect location to take in the Fringe Festival and the restaurants and bars of Marigny/Bywater. Frenchmen Street and the Quarter are maybe a mile walk away. Thanks!
Everything was great! The place is near the lovely Marigny / Bywater area with loads of lovely cafes, bars and restaurants swarming with locals. French Quarter is close too, around 15-20min walk away.
It's also pretty easy to get to the apartment with a cab with fixed $33 fare. We went back to the airport with bus and found that pretty easy(and cheap!) too with a little help of Google Maps.
Amanda was very friendly and helpful. The apartment is quite basic, but there's quite a lot of room you have your own private bathroom, so value is great. It was pretty cold in NOLA when we were there, but heating worked well and we were comfortable.
I only met Amanda briefly, but she was very friendly and informative. She even left us a bottle of wine the first night! The room was just like the photos. The neighborhood was just fine and very close to St. Claude street, which has some nice cafes and bars. It was a great experience overall.
I didn't actually meet Amanda, but she was very accommodating and easy to reach through text. She helped with anything I needed and made everything easy. The room was clean, quiet and comfy and the location is great for a stroll or bike ride to the French Quarter. There are also cool coffee shops nearby. I'd greatly recommend this space for a budget stay!
The place was simple and easy to access. A brisk pace walk of 20 minutes to the French Quarter with cafes and coffee shops along the way. The back lower room fixed with a bathroom had all the essentials. Nothing fancy but what you need for daytime French Quarter and night time in Marigny.
If you like a more laid-back Bohemian getaway, with nothing more than the basics, at a great price, then you'll like this place as much as I did. The common kitchen area is more student chic than guest house tidy, but I found the funkiness a relief. Nice hot shower in a big claw bath, and a comfy bed. Frankly, the room is basic, and it's not, for me at least, the kind of relaxing space to chill out in (no window view) but if you're in New Orleans to be out and about, and just come back to sleep (and who isn't?) this place should really suit your needs (and to repeat: at a really good price...).
Location is also great, in the upcoming Marigny Boho area. As long as you don't walk too far east (which I did on the first night; after ten blocks it gets real sketchy. New Orleans is knowing where, and where not, to walk...), it feels like a safe hood. Best of all, it's literally a 12 minute walk, south, to the north-east corner of the French Quarter, perfect staggering distance home after a night in the bars.
Our key was immediately available when we arrived. We had driven 14 hours so it was very helpful to get right into our room so we could collapse. As for location, it was a twenty minute walk to the French Quarter, so it was perfect. We were not looking to stay in a hotel and Amanda's room felt like we were staying at a friend's house. As for the neighborhood, we always felt safe walking back at night. The surrounding houses are very cute too and let you see a glimpse of authentic New Orleans. Our room was clean and looked exactly like it does in the pictures. The bathroom was immaculate and if the shower curtain wasn't bolted to the wall, we would have been tempted to take it. Also, there was a switch to add heating to the bathroom! Is this a common thing or does Amanda have her fingers on the pulse of the future? Either way, we loved it! Amanda was extremely helpful and we had our privacy while we stayed. Overall, this was a perfect AirBnB experience.
- everyone was very nice and respectful
- room was clean and well equipped with umbrella, towels and tourist info
- good non-touristy restaurant suggestions provided by the host
- we requested an early check in since we were coming off an overnight flight and they were very accommodating
- Not THAT close to French Quarter. Quite a long walk through a slightly dodgy neighbourhood..short bus ride but the buses don't come that often
- the common spaces of the house are quite cluttered
- no ability to lock your bedroom door when you go out. (Wasn't a problem but it is a shared house)
Had a great stay with Amanda. Everything exactly as stated and really cozy.
Thank you for your stay. Please think of us in the future!
Amanda was very sweet and forgiving. Our a/c went out for about 10 hrs and she couldn't have been nicer. We gave her a fan and she was all set and happy. Thanks Amanda!
Amanda and her friends were great. They only stayed for one night so I did not get to interact with them as much as I would have liked. But Amanda and friends were so kind to extend an invitation to me for the Rugby Tournament they were attending in Houston. She was also extremely flexible with me since I had a meeting in Austin the same day they were arriving. Amanda and friends are awesome and I would not hesitate to host them again!
