Welcome to NewYork!!!
Carmen and Millie really saved me in a bind. I was staying in another airbnb location in Bushwick but someone else had booked my room before I had a chance to extend it. Carmen accepted my request immediately and not only that but upgraded me to a studio! It was all my own space with a good sized kitchen and a very comfortable bed. It was very near to the L train which is great to get to Manhatten and other parts of Brooklyn.
My stay at Carmen was a really nice stay. The people in the house was really helpful and gave a couple of good pointers of where to get around in the area.
Carmen was very helpful on the phone, but never met her. So felt actually real comfortable in the way that trust was given.
It is what you pay for a ok room, with heating, and got what i needed of amenities.
As a short distance from NYC for a cheap and cosy room, i think i got what i paid for ;)
The place is in a nice neighborhood, very close to the subway, that's a good point.
But it was dirty, too hot and we couldn't close the window. We haven't seen Carmen at all. And the bathroom was dirty too. So I would not recommend this place.
Carmen was super nice and easy to get a hold of. Room was bigger than I expected and apartment was very clean. Super close to the subway. We ended up having to stay an extra night because our travel plans got cancelled last minute. Carmen was super helpful and met up with us right away even with such short notice. I would definitely stay with Carmen again!
We spent 4 nights in this room and it was ok. It is 45 min from Times Square by subway, which is not that bad since the housing is not really expensive for NYC. It is 20 min from the South of Manhattan.
The bathroom is a common one. It was not very very clean but it was ok.
The beds were comfortable.
There is a cat in the apartement (but it did not come into the room).
It is better for young people than for families.
We enjoyed our stay and Carmen was helpful and hospitable.
Three German girls chrashing in Brooklyn
Carmen was a nice host, but not as responsive. For the price of the place, I guess this is what you would expect. The building was pretty run-down and the neighboring streets seemed somewhat shady. We didn't receive the room that was shown in the pictures and there was a double-booking, which was sorted out about half an hour later. There was no internet until the last day we were there and our time was taken up by waiting for the cable guy to finish installing internet/tv in our room. I also got attacked by mosquitoes. It was an unpleasant stay and I do not think we would return. 2 stars because we needed to stay another night and Carmen accommodated us.
Bright, spacious room with friendly housemates and
Carmen is fantastic and the apartment is beautiful. It's a great neighbourhood, alive and full of energy, and feels very safe. The apartment is immaculate and very comfortable. I had to have a very late check in time and Carmen and her mother were very accommodating about meeting me around midnight and letting me into the apartment. I would stay there again in a flash. It's also very close the subway and very easy to get around Brooklyn and into Manhattan.
Carmen is a wonderful and accommodating host. She wasn't able to be there the night I checked in but she let me know how to get the keys and was available via text for any questions I had. She's been a member of the neighborhood since her childhood, and is more than happy to give you the details of what to do in the area if you want to know. Read the amenities list thoroughly or just send Carmen a message directly if you have any questions about the room; not every room comes with access to a kitchen. That being said, it seems like most rooms do provide a micro/fridge/coffee maker, which can be quite sufficient for even a stay of a few weeks. I needed to stay for one extra night at the end of my 2 weeks and Carmen was there to help me out. Though the room I stayed in didn't match the picture I saw on the page, the room I ended up in was huge, with a couch, a desk, high ceilings and 2 beds. It almost felt like having a studio apt. If you want a laid-back, affordable stay in a convenient location, I'd definitely recommend staying at Carmen's, she's a superwoman.
