The room was very spacious and warm during the winter. It felt clean which was very important to me. The bathroom is also very spacious. The people I stayed with did not bother me at all. There was little interaction, but depending on the person this could be a good thing or bad thing. To me it was a good thing; I felt like I had a lot of freedom staying here. I had a lot of flexibility in coming and going, as I came home very late at times and it was fine.
The location is very convenient. 10min walk to Sinchon station and 15min walk to Hongik University Station (Hongdae) which is a central hub for young adults.
When I arrived the room had a slight funky smell, but that was solved by buying a scented candle.
Overall I really enjoyed the stay and would book again. 7/10
Thank you for giving my mom stayed home.
Very Quiet and living independently guest.
When you visit Korea next I hope it comes again.
房東人很好 奶奶也很親切... 雖然他們英文不太流利 但是他們還是會盡力去完成你的需求 如果有意拜訪這裡可以準備一本自己母語和韓文的對照翻譯書
The host so kind and friendly!!!!
Nice home stay!!!!!!
In short, this was a reasonably priced place in a great location. Another review of this place said that you'll become part of a family, this is not precisely the case. You don't even live with the person who owns the listing, she and her family live in another apartment on a different floor. The person living in the apartment is the mother of the host mom listed at this place, and she was very nice and helpful for the most part. So was Kyoung-Hee! Everyone was flexible when there was a problem. For example, when I first came, my room didn't have any air conditioning, and the one in the apartment was broken. But noticing that I had a difficult time making it through the extreme Korean summer heat, they installed an AC in my room (and asked me to contribute $50 for it, which isn't an excruciating sum).
If you are overtly caring about privacy or cleanliness, there are certain things about this place you might want to consider. The room I rented was adjacent to a storage area, and quite a few times I noticed that someone had walked through my room to access it, which some might find a little uncomfortable. I'm sure this would have been possible to change had I said something about it, but it didn't bother me that much. The walls are also quite thin so you will hear a lot of the activity in the rest of the apartment, which sometimes might be difficult if you are a light sleeper. Certain parts of the apartment were quite dirty, but the room itself was generally clean so this isn't necessarily a big issue either.
However, I know the market and the city fairly well, and I'm quite sure that you wouldn't find a better place at this price level and in this part of the city. It is extremely centrally located, the price is relatively cheap compared to most options, and your hosts are very helpful should you need anything. If you're looking for more of a sociable and immersive cultural experience you might want to look into regular "Homestay" as well, but for the purpose of being in Seoul for any period of time -- short or long -- this is a convenient place for a fair price.
It's one of the best home stay I have ever had. You become a part of family and they treat you as a family member. They're very friendly and will help you for anything even they don't have to.
The flat is in a very good location and easy access to everywhere.
I'd highly recommend this place.
