We (family of 5, kids ages 7-11) had a great 11 day stay at Marietta's apartment over Christmas, 2012. Marietta went out of her way to make our visit pleasant. Her family cleaned out the closets and drawers to make room for us, and she left us her Christmas tree stand and lights so we could use them.
The apartment is HUGE with 2 large living rooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and 3 bedrooms. We had several holiday parties for 10-14 people at the apartment and there were enough dishes and chairs for everyone. The location is very convenient across the street and up a hill from the subway station (3 minute walk). It's just 4 short stops to Gamla Stan (Old City) which takes less than 10 minutes. There's a large, vibrant shopping mall at the subway stop with four grocery stores, several restaurants and a food court, clothing and toy shops, etc. The apartment is full of windows and has nice views from the hilltop. The laundry room in the basement has 2 big washers and a real dryer, and it was always available. There's a nice playground, lake and walking/jogging trail behind the subway station where our kids could sled on the massive snow we had. There's a smaller playground area right behind the apartment, surrounded by other apartment buildings and visible from the kitchen window, so our kids could play safely without us being outside. Wifi was good and supported all the iPods and iPads we brought. The apartment sits above a music school/concert hall, so we heard music in the bathroom one day. (School was out of session after the first two days of our trip, so I don't know how noisy it might be during the school year).
Overall, we had a fabulous trip to Stockholm and felt very comfortable in Marietta's home. We will definitely try to stay here again the next time we travel to Stockholm to see friends and family. It's a huge amount of space for the money!
Marietta's place was perfect for our sojourn in Stockholm. Spacious, comfortable, and lIterally minutes away from transportation, this is a great place to stay if you're traveling with 2-3 other people (I can't get over how large the apartment was!!).
The great thing about this neighborhood, LIljeholmen, is that though its technically not considered Stockholm 'proper', it is soooo close to everything. As I mentioned earlier, Marietta's place is across the street from the train, and Liljeholmen itself is a few minutes commute to most all of the cool areas of Stockholm . Also, the convenience of having grocery stores and a shopping center right across the street by the train station can't be beat.
Friendly and communicative, Marietta is exactly what you're looking for in a great host! All in all, a wonderful experience for my first time in Stockholm :)
Marietta's apartment is absolutely stunning and exceeds expectations! Spacious, cosy, warm, and stylish, with plenty of different spaces to relax in. It feels like being in your own home in another country! The location was perfect, super close to the T bana from where you could be in the centre of town within 10 mins. Marietta is also very helpful and will ensure you have everything you need for a comfortable stay.
We loved every minute of it and would recommend the apartment to anyone!
We stayed at Marietta's lovely apartment for 5 days in January and had a wonderful Swedish experience. First of all, good location near subway station and fast access to the Gamla Stan (Old City) and Normalm. Lot's of local POI nearby.
The apartment is gorgeous. Fireplace, 2 living rooms, lots of books. We will definitely come again. Very nice neighbors around, helped us with directions, sightseeing, good food advising etc.
We really appreciated our visit to Stockholm and I highly recommend Marietta's place.
