I learned about airbnb from a story on NPR (I am an NPR junkie). I originally signed up on airbnb to find a place for a weekend getaway in the Boston area prior to a business trip. My boyfriend and I have had great luck using similar services for longer vacations. We like having a home base with a kitchen and some of the amenities of home when we are exploring new places. Airbnb offers a lot of the same amenities and more options for shorter stays.
More about me: I enjoy exploring new cities that have a good mix of beauty, culture, density (walk-ability & bike-ability), and good eating. Recent explorations have taken me to Amsterdam, Boston, and the Island of Nantucket, and Taos & Santa Fe, New Mexico. I reside in Berkeley, CA, which is itself a great city to explore.
I work for a consulting company that offers services in energy efficiency, green building, and sustainability. Sustainability is another passion of mine, and I enjoy engaging with others to identify creative ways to preserve our planet while fostering a vibrant economy. Related interests include local economies and product design that eliminates waste.
