Steve and Hope moved to Las Vegas in 2004, which I think makes them honorary locals. Hope grew up in the Midwest and Steve was raised in New England, but mostly they live on the Internet.
Steve has “come out” to totally embrace his inner geek after repressing it fiercely all through the 80’s. He lets his nerdy flag fly. He is a cyclist (road, of course!) and programmer. He is obsessed with TEDx anything. He is an advocate and practitioner of life-long education, currently studying machine learning, data science, exercise physiology, and nutrition.
Hope is an omnivorous reader, experimental cook, plant killer, hobby photographer, haphazard sew-er* and fabric hoarder. Recently she has been patronizing the local hackerspace, allowing her to proCRAFTinate on a much wider variety of projects.
Their time in LV is the longest they have lived in any one place. When you’re feeling trapped by the city—drive five miles due west and you are in open desert. There are hundreds of biking/hiking/climbing/horseback riding trails out of sight of the city. When it’s Friday night and you’re feeling like you have to get out of the house—drive five miles east and you’re on The Strip with hundreds of world-class restaurants, nightclubs, shows, bars and concerts to choose from. They love to share favorite places and local events.
*Yes, sewer is grammatically correct, but I don’t want Hope to think that I’m comparing her to a septic system! (I distinctly remember what happened last time… )
