My fiancé and I had an absolutely fantastic time in Hexham, and Wendy is a very friendly and welcoming host. When we arrived we were greeted by her and shown up to our room which had one double and one single bed in it. We found it to be very spacious with an excellent view of the bridge and surrounding area and the room was clean and tired and to a very good standard.
Downstairs in the living room Wendy had set a real fire which was really warm and welcoming in itself!
As we had a car Wendy provided us with a parking permit for the Masonic Hall which is just across the road from the B&B.
Once we were settled we were invited into the kitchen where Wendy laid on tea and Christmas cake for us which was most welcome!
Wendy spent some time talking to us and gave us a street map of Hexham. She took the time to orientate us to the town, and had an extensive knowledge of the numerous restaurants and bars that were worth visiting and pointed them out for us on the map.
The stay overnight was perfect, both my partner and I slept like logs in the very comfy bed. The bathroom adjacent the room was large and had a very nice shower in it and the place was warm and comfortable throughout our stay.
The next morning Wendy provided us with a home cooked English breakfast consisting of bacon, sausage and poached eggs all of which tasted excellent and you could tell the produce she uses are fresh; along with a generous helping of sliced fruit and yoghurt accompanied by OJ and a choice of tea and coffee.
Getting to the B&B is very easy, and Wendy gave us good directions. It is across the road from the local police station and its central location means that it is walking distance to everything in town.
Wendy is a wonderful host and I heartily recommend staying at her B&B and exploring Hexham and the surrounding area in Northumberland. If we hadn't have had such a cluttered calendar we would have loved to enjoy a longer stay with Wendy and we would love to stay there again the next time that we are in the area.
Wendy made us feel so welcome, she was really friendly with lots of helpful advice about the area and provided fabulous tea and cake on arrival. The house is cosy and welcoming , especially with the wood stove ablaze in the lounge for us in evening when we returned from Hexham. Comfy beds and super breakfast with everything you could want. Easy walk into Hexham so great position and lovely views from the house over the burn.
We would definitely like to stay again and would recommend highly to friends.
We had a lovely time at Bridge House. The house was beautiful and Wendy was fantastic - a brilliant host who fed us fab cakes and gave us interesting information about the area. Would definitely return and recommend to friends.
The house is beautifully situated and decorated. Wendy made us feel welcome and comfortable. Her breakfasts, and the lemon drizzle cake with which were greeted, were delicious. We were indulged with a wonderful selection of fruit and american style pancakes with locally smoked salmon on our final morning. I would recommend Bridge House B&B without reservation.
Beautifully clean and appointed house. Comfortable and homely. Would highly recommend.
Wendy is a fantastic host, welcoming us with tea and homemade cake. Wendy has a beautiful and comfortable home which is within an easy walk of Hexham. Our breakfast which included scrambled egg and smoked salmon was fabulous. Thank you, Wendy.
Wendy was the most delightful host you could ever hope for. She's interesting to chat to, and she really puts the 'BnB' into 'AirBnB' with delicious breakfasts. Her place is in a lovely location, near a large park and surrounded by lush greenery. The room proved large, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. I highly recommend her!
A charming and very helpful host
Wendy was just great. Very welcoming. The room was very clean, nicely decorated and very large. The bed was quite comfortable. Walking distance into town and close to the shuttle for day tripping to Hadrian's Wall and museums. Wendy had great suggestions for local attractions and restaurants. She also made a wonderful breakfast for us. The property is beautifully located alongside a terraced garden leading to a stream. Hexham is a nice town just for walking and exploring within itself.
Nice to hear from you, Joanne, and I guess you are back home now. Weather here is dry and REALLY hot! And I still haven't finished painting the railings.....but summer is time for fun....
I stayed 2 nights with Wendy and apart from failing to organise the weather everything was really good. Comfy bed and spotlessly clean. Very good breakfast, the mixed fruit was delicious. Thoroughly recommended.
